What drove me insane about the nearest post office off-base was that there were three windows, but never more than two clerks working them, regardless of how many dozens of customers were in line. If a third clerk showed up, one of the other two would close his window. And if it was "time", one of the two working might close his window, too. Absolutely no concern for the customer.
Exactly my experience. What also kills me is all the joking around and casual talking to customers when a line is going out the door.

That drives me crazy....anywhere there is a line....Home Depot, the grocery store, Walmart....There will be a long line and the cashier will chat with the customer, interfering with and slowing down the transaction. What really drives me nuts is when two cashiers sit there chatting, while many people just wait in line.
I understand the need to be nice and courteous, but it shouldn't happen at the cost of my valuable time.
