KABUL, May 15 (Xinhua) -- A NATO air strike killed 60 Taliban insurgents including three important commanders in Jalai district of Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan, provincial police chief Asmatullah Alizai told Xinhua Tuesday. NATO air forces bombarded some Taliban hideouts in the district on Monday night after receiving a credible tip-off, Alizai said, adding he did not know how many militants were injured.
The killed commanders were Mullah Abdul Hanan, Mullah Zekria and Mullah Zarif, Alizai said.
A searching operation for Taliban remnants in the area is going on, he added.

Some people make the world a better place by leaving it. “When the wicked perish, the righteous rejoice.” Hot damn! Now if fat boy Al-Sadr would just blow up in a munitions dump, er mosque.

Turkey is part of ISAF, which is the peacekeeping force (including Germany, Austria, France etc.), as opposed to the seperate “Enduring Freedom” coalition which is the Combat force.

"Important Commanders"..., translated: dominate cockroaches with a dozen or so mindless followers!
In any event, a few exterminated leaving advancement opportunities for the next brood hatched!

Not all the time. There are reports that some SOF imagery at night shows some taliban and goats in, let’s just say, “compromising” positions. It not only gets lonely at night, but baaaaaaaahhhd.

This sounds great. We have worked our way down from close associates, to second in command, to capitans, to lieutenants, to strategists and now we are getting the "top commanders". Sounds like they are running out of people to take leadership positions.
What's next, head platoon leaders?

The overall command of ISAF is being rotated on a half-year basis between the countries. However in 2007 an exception was made and an US General (I think McNeil) has assumed commandm although the USA is not part of ISAF.
Before him it was a Brit. The Turks were in charge in 2002 and 2005.
