OUTRAGE OVER NEW BAN ON THE CROSS

SCHOOL chiefs are today under fire for banning pupils from wearing crosses in class while allowing the jewellery of other faiths.
Christian groups and politicians condemned the education bosses and accused them of double standards.
The officials have told headteachers to ban jewellery except in exceptional circumstances when schools need to be sensitive towards other faiths. The exceptions include lockets worn by Muslims and Hindu bracelets.
But even Muslim leaders have joined the condemnation, arguing that all religious groups, including Christians, should be treated the same.
The guidance, issued to headteachers in Croydon, south London, has echoes of the row last year over Nadia Ewedia, the British Airways employee who eventually won her long battle to wear a cross at work.
A spokesman for the Lawyers Christian Fellowship yesterday said: We have had numerous examples recently of the rights of some faith groups being tolerated while the rights of others, generally Christians, are not.
Where rights are in competition, some rights win out. So we have a situation where gay rights trump Christian rights and in some areas, Muslim rights seem paramount.

I'd tell them to rip the St. Anthony off my neck, then proceed to pummel the person that does it. That's if I was still in high school. I'm not a practicing Catholic, but the only time I take it off is when I shower. I will never take it off just to be "sensitive" to others.

Exactly, we have been pushed around without even protesting for years now, and we cannot remain silent about the attempt to single us out for exclusion from the public square.
The UK is acting foolishly, but they may not see it until it is too late for them.

Off topic, I know, but one of the things I remember most vividly about my childhood was my grandmother, when she would lose something, running around frantically, praying to St. Anthony. She always found it, and then she would go to church (St. Anthony’s) and light a candle.

The Croydon school guidance says the religious items that can be worn are: Rakhi, a cotton bracelet worn by Hindus; kara, a metal bracelet put on the arms of Sikh children when they are young and is impossible to remove; and taweez, religious lockets worn by some Muslim pupils on a string around the neck, arm or stomach.

Croydon council said that the guidelines issued by its advisory committee for religious education did not mention Christianity because it is not compulsory to wear a cross
it is a personal preference and can be taken off.

People better wake up before all their rights and freedoms are gone. Isn't going to happen. The public is all too ready to (unknowingly) undercut their own rights so long as they can take others' away for some advantage. Look at the 1968 GCA act -- suddenly there is no universal right to possess a gun. With no universal right, you get (in short order) Moron Grove IL and all the follies that have followed that.
As you deprive the worst of them, you deprive yourself. Sooner or later.
But people will forever be "Lured by the Loudest Throat," the more so they're subject to deficient ejukashun, and this (country's) experiment is drawing towards its inevitable close.
Y'all are doing it to yourselves.

were I a student, I would wear my cross, and then tell the teacher -- "You want it off? Take it off me." Then the instant they touched me start screaming bloody murder that the teacher had touched me in an inappropriate way. Guilty till proven innocent nowadays. :) Ain't I evil?
