I think with a vanishing manufacturing base, a trade deficit approaching 1 TILLION dollars a year, maybe we should think about buying from American companies.
How much do we manufacture?
If they can’t sell to anyone - read: Colombia - they cannot turn a profit or hire people anymore. Let American companies sell more abroad and expand everyone’s pie!

The manufacturing base is not vanishing, we are manufacturing more in america than we ever did in our $111 trillion economy. We also have services and other sectors that are second to none.
