I’m sure that somewhere there are teachers who do a really top-notch job, leave their politics at home and produce excellent results. All we ever hear about though, are the fools, the self-appointed political officers and the automatons with no judgment, common sense or sense of proportion.
Unreal.

There are only 2 kinds of government teachers:
1) Bad Teachers
2) Enablers
If you’re part of the government school system ( in any way) you are part of the problem.
There is only one solution:
CLOSE down government schools!
Remove your own child.
Organize with others to form church schools.
Organize with others to elect representatives who will padlock government schools.
I have several friends who're retired military who have decided to move into the classroom to counter the liberal slop fed our kids. Mostly to counter the liberal doctrine of deliberately teaching kids WHAT to think, rather than HOW to think. For example, after Colombine, the school where I was working at that point had six ex-military. Four were combat arms branched and three of those were Special Forces with all of them having seen extensive combat operations. We agreed that there would be NO Colombines at that school. If we got word there was a "shooter" on campus, we had a rally point at which to meet, form up and find the punks and take them out.
This was a really old school with tons of tight blind corners, nearly impossible to negotiate safely, especially for folks untrained in that art. We reconned the whole school. Knew the choke points, blind spots and hard cover. I never felt the need to keep a firearm in my car, but I knew some of those other guys, did. Had one of them been a chaperon on this field trip, there'd have been one dead "bad guy" on site and he would have fully deserved his fate. I wouldn't have lost a wink of sleep over that.
So yeah, there are some good teachers out there. But for the most part, they are the "fools, the self-appointed political officers and the automatons with no judgment, common sense or sense of proportion" as you so aptly stated. All this was before the Department of Education was created under Jimmy Carter. I am sure school is worse today. I thank God I never had children and had to go through this crap. I would probably end up being one of those parents you read about who winds up getting arrested.

I’d go so far as to say most i’ve come across do a good job and care about what they do. As you say the only ones we hear about are the bad ones. A similar situation is the highways. We don’t hear about the millions of cars that take I-40 from Wilmington to Raleigh a year safely, we hear about the one or two who die.
