This election cannot be solely called a “low caste” landslide.Mayawati,the party chief built up a alliance of the lowest caste groups with the Brahmins,who are the highest in the caste order & also made overtures to the muslims.Having those 3 groups in your kitty gives you an unbeatable combination in a state like U.P.Most people I know of,wanted her to win to set things right in that state.
