This is NOT a Christian nation.

So much for your history acumen. This nation was founded on Christian principles by Christian men. Mitt has the right to be a Mormon, but as a Mormon he will never be the President.

I don’t know, I find them to be pretty interesting activities, particularly when I’m in need of spiritual nourishment. Of course, many consider spirituality itself a rather boring pursuit. To each his own, I suppose.

I think some people find peace and enlightenment in repeating activities and rituals. I don't. I can't reread a book or watch a movie twice. I am convinced I would have been diagnosed as ADHD if I had been growing up now. When I need spiritual nourishment I go skiing, soaring or just take a hike into the mountains with my wife.

You probably know more than I about it, for sure.

Though I’ve had more than one Bishop affirm such.

Have always wondered how they’d effect such a plan decade after decade.

Nope. I enjoy it to, but he shills so much, and defends the personal nature of religion so much, that he actually detracts. To bad. There’s much to like about M.R.

A lot of members think something similar, which can cause some confusion. This has to do with things said by some of our past leaders to the effect that there would be times in this country's life where the Constitution would hang by a "single thread," and, if it were to be saved at all, it would be saved by the Elders of the Church.

This refers, I believe, to the devotion Mormons feel toward the Constitution and their willingness to support its values. It's a statement of patriotic support of the United States as an idea and the Constitution as an inspired document; it has nothing to do with "taking over the government." We can, perhaps, see a foreshadowing of this in the narrow defeat of the Equal Rights Amendment, in which Utah helped to play a critical role.

Only once has the idea of "taking over the government" been forwarded, and the document was denounced and demonstrated to be a hoax.

Here's a place you can go to see several quotations by past LDS authorities on this topic:

Firstly, I wont vote for him because being pro-choice when governor of MA and suddenly being pro-life when you get national asperations is too convenient for me.

That aside how can you call a Religion that sees God as not being the Alpha and the Omega as good as any Christianity?

“That aside how can you call a Religion that sees God as not being the Alpha and the Omega as good as any Christianity?”

This is untrue. We Mormons worship Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior; we ascribe to His Biblical declaration that He is the Alpha and Omega.

The idea that circulates out there that we do not worship Jesus Christ above any other is patently false.

What is the Alpha and Omega? it is the beginning and the end. Mormons believe at the beginning of time God was not God. At some point a man was Good enough to become a God and he has sex and produced the spirit children Jesus and Lucifer (Jesus and Satan are Brothers).

You also believe there are other planets with different Gods. God was not always with you, he had a finite start to his existence.

I think it’s all academic. Frankly, with one exception, the LDS Church doesn’t teach any of the things you mentioned. It doesn’t really matter; I think that we, as mortals, fail to comprehend time and eternity for what they really are. Let me be clear: while some of the things you note are opinions held by some Mormons, almost everything you list is NOT LDS doctrine. They are rumors.

The only item that has a basis in LDS doctrine is your point about Jesus and Lucifer. We believe that, prior to the creation of the Earth, you, me, Jesus, Lucifer, we were all spirits with God. God proposed a plan whereby we could be tested in this life to see if we would follow Him by faith.

Lucifer, through pride, rebelled. A third of the host of heaven rebelled with him; as a result, they were cast out, and lost their opportunity to join the rest of mankind in mortality. Revelations 12 depicts much of this.

But, yes, Jesus and Lucifer are both spiritual children of God, just like you and I. The difference, though, is that Lucifer and his followers, out of spite, seek to make mankind as miserable as they are; therefore, they work to sow unrighteousness among mankind.

Where does the whole preoccupation with sex come from? Who ever said that creation of a spiritual child, such as you and me, has anything to do with sex? For that matter, even if it did, is sex within the proper boundaries the Lord has defined for us in any way dirty or impure?

The Lord Jesus Christ is the Alpha and Omega of all Christianity - including members of the LDS Church.

“I believe the Mormon faith is as good as any other that believer in Jesus .”

Mormons don’t believe in Jesus of the Gospels. The have a totally different religion based on their own gospel that assigns Christian names to their dieties. That excludes them from being true Christians, and in fact, makes them an antichristian cult.

“Mormons don’t believe in Jesus of the Gospels.”

This is not true. If you’re going to accuse me of not being a Christian, please substantiate your accusations.

I am a Mormon. I believe in Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. Like other Christians, He is the center and foundation of my faith.

The Jesus of the Gospels was with God in the beginning, he was the word made flesh. The Jesus of the Mormons was not in the beginning he was a spirit child of God, well he and his brother Lucifer..

Jesus and Lucifer are both spiritual children of God, just like you and I.

Can you please provide scriptural reference for this statement?

The whole discussion is laughable. Did Clinton’s evangelical Baptist beliefs control what he did in the Oval Office? Why should Romney be anymore controlled by his beliefs?

I think it is time that we all study the Mormon faith. If you want to go on line and study the pros and cons of this faith.I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT JESUS AND SATAN WERE BROTHERS> IN THE BIBLE IT SAYS GOD WOULD SEND HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON NOT ONE OF THE TWINS.ANY ONE WHO PLEASE STUDIES RELIGION KNOWS SATIN WAS A BAD ANGEL PERIOD. A bad angel who took one third the Heavenly host with him. That is why the war in Heaven occurred. I hope you know this , it has been taught in the older faiths for years. I am sorry I disagree on a lot of the issues of the Mormon faith , but the man seems like a God fearing man. Rather then Rudy who I think is a joke Romney is a better candidate. As a Catholic and having been raised Orthodox Christian I heard a lot about my faith also. I am not quick to judge unless I know all facts, so I shall study this faith. Glenn Beck seems like a pretty good guy also.

See the choice issue is a good point. I would think about that one also because I too am so pro life I would have to think about that one. But as to the Mormon faith I would have to study that one.

Look getting into a hot and heavy discussion about the mormon faith is something I am not ready for because I did not study it . And as far as the this children I miss typed sue me. Everybody makes a typo every now and then. I happen to believe as a Christian that GOD loves us all and crys when we fall short of knowing him. Every prophet who did would die on the spot to be with him again.I feel that the Mormon religion may not be the way to God that I would go , but Quote" there are many paths to Jesus may yours be the shortest and I be next to you ".

Look I have seen a lot of my faith go to church , go out the door and say the priest does not tell me not to get an abortion. Or a lot of so called Catholics complain about the faith , remember the priest and children issue. The only way to God is within you. I have seen a lot of bad catholics make a lot of d=stupid mistakes. I like to think of myself as a soldier of Christ , yet at the same time as a Catholic recognizing that a lot of other ways out there believe in Jesus. No body ever said the Catholics were going to heaven first.Didn’t hear Peter say that. He said pray for all people who have lost or cannot find GOD.Why is it we have to teach the way to Jesus is wrong only our way is right. Yet when we make mistakes like the priest children issue we covered it up until the press dogged it out of us.In my religion which is Catholic ) I believe that God loves us all and does not have a place where he says Catholics on the right and any other religion on the left.Remember one thing regardless of how we may feel GOD’S light is in everyman.
