I urge you all to donate to this organization if you can. They have paid the legal fees for members of our military who are being falsely accused of crimes. We can't have people second guessing the actions of our military in a time of war.

My greatest fear was that someday men like these will realize that about 2/3 of the people in this country hate them and are not worth fighting for.

But, guess what?

They know it and keep on fighting.

Ilario Pantano eventually got the justice he deserved and I applaud he and Merry’s efforts in organizing DefendtheDefenders, it is a worthy organization. I hope many here at FR will support it.

Did you read his book? I have and I recommend it for everyone. It gives you insight into what the military has to face every day with the PC police.

No I haven’t read it yet but am definitely going to, it is a must read on my list.

I’m familiar with his case from reading much about it here. I’m active in supporting the Haditha Marines and have been since the despicable murtha called them cold blooded killers last May.

Their first mistake was thinking they were special operations qualified. Their definition is a little different than what the real Special Operations personnel are defined and qualified as.....

Thanks for posting this, rob! I'd used the keyword "Afghanhighway" for related threads. Anyone interested can see them at the link.

Just today, a "defense official" said that these Marines were "out of control" and the incident was As Bad as Haditha. The railroading of these Marines has already begun. There's no chance for an impartial investigation.

I'm so glad Lt. Pantano is involved to help see that justice is done. Pantano deserves our support as well.

It never ceases to amaze me how the drive by media consistently chooses to gobble the bait terrorists offer, knowing that they are assisting our enemies by deliberately misreporting the actions of our Marines in particular and the rest of our armed forces as well.

It's as if there is a certain fascination with bringing down the most aggressive and potent fighting force in the world, a fanatical perversion of the term "peace is mightier than the sword" that drives them.

There is nothing new about staged "massacres", and we all recently saw abundant proof of that in Israel's recent two pronged conflict; green helmet guy, wailing woman, stuffed animal dude, all part of the orchestrated show that puts a couple dozen kids in a room under a rocket launcher.

There's a saying, to the effect that to fool me once is your fault, to fool me twice is mine.

How many times do our armed forces have to be set up by the terrorists & terrorized by the media and their "un named senior officials" who leak 10,000 page classified reports to these vipers before the citizens of this country catch on that they're being duped?

Hopefully Lt Patano's book and the website his mother Merry started will help alert the public to the travesties being piled on the backs of our Defenders.

The lack of leadership in pulling these Marines out of Afghanistan was breathtaking. Even if these guys had been guilty, the Taliban now know what works. They won't be stopping this little game any time soon.

I think Lt. Pantano also nails another problem we've been experiencing in the US with our expectations of the military:

Illogically high expectations about pinpoint accuracy and target discrimination in a fire-fight are the fantasy of armchair-academics and videogame players. Men on the ground know that war is sloppy and rough. Combat is not a noun or a place that you are "in," but rather a verb, a thing that you "do" to other people. Principally, combat is imposing your will on the enemy by violence of action and the ugly truth is that the process kills all kinds of people: good ones, bad ones, and yes, even our own. When our expectations of success and precision are unrealistic it threatens not only our service men, it emboldens our enemy, and it breaks our will to stand and fight.
