Three years ago, I was leading Marines in Fallujah. Two years ago, with lawyers that many of you helped pay for, I walked into a courtroom at Camp Lejeune to face off against prosecutors in a fight for my life.
Today, I am back in the fight, and ask for your help in defending a team of true American heroes. Drawn from the elite ranks of "Force Recon," the hand-picked men of Marine Special Operations (MARSOC) are literally the best of the best, and instead of being honored they are being investigated for simply doing their job. Our commandos became the latest victims of rushed judgment and political posturing when they were accused of using "excessive force" to defend themselves during a suicide car-bomb triggered ambush targeting the Americans because some purportedly innocent Afghanis got caught in the cross-fire. But that day on March 4, 2007 in the town of Bati Kot, Afghanistan, our Marines became the victims of more than just suicide bombers, they were caught in the teeth of a thoughtfully engineered media ambush that has ensnared them, and by extension the U.S., in the Taliban's fight to wrest control of Afghanistan from the Karzai government.
The Taliban was banking on world opinion arriving at the simple and "obvious" conclusion that our men were responsible for the tragically inevitable loss of life consequent to commandos responding as they are trained to do when faced with the kind of attack that days later would kill nine troopers from the 82nd.

Ilario Pantano eventually got the justice he deserved and I applaud he and Merry’s efforts in organizing DefendtheDefenders, it is a worthy organization. I hope many here at FR will support it.
Did you read his book? I have and I recommend it for everyone. It gives you insight into what the military has to face every day with the PC police.
No I haven’t read it yet but am definitely going to, it is a must read on my list.
I’m familiar with his case from reading much about it here. I’m active in supporting the Haditha Marines and have been since the despicable murtha called them cold blooded killers last May.
Their first mistake was thinking they were special operations qualified. Their definition is a little different than what the real Special Operations personnel are defined and qualified as.....
Just today, a "defense official" said that these Marines were "out of control" and the incident was As Bad as Haditha. The railroading of these Marines has already begun. There's no chance for an impartial investigation.
I'm so glad Lt. Pantano is involved to help see that justice is done. Pantano deserves our support as well.

The LT got a real crap deal.From all accounts this Marine was superb in his conduct while on active duty.The Corps lost a fine combat Marine when this man when retired.Americas loss.

It's as if there is a certain fascination with bringing down the most aggressive and potent fighting force in the world, a fanatical perversion of the term "peace is mightier than the sword" that drives them.
There is nothing new about staged "massacres", and we all recently saw abundant proof of that in Israel's recent two pronged conflict; green helmet guy, wailing woman, stuffed animal dude, all part of the orchestrated show that puts a couple dozen kids in a room under a rocket launcher.
There's a saying, to the effect that to fool me once is your fault, to fool me twice is mine.
How many times do our armed forces have to be set up by the terrorists & terrorized by the media and their "un named senior officials" who leak 10,000 page classified reports to these vipers before the citizens of this country catch on that they're being duped?
Hopefully Lt Patano's book and the website his mother Merry started will help alert the public to the travesties being piled on the backs of our Defenders.
