My feeling is that the Democrats want to reach out to "young" evangelical Christians because they think they're easier to fool than the more mature ones.
"People don't want to go to church anymore ... and come out feeling bad because they happen to know somebody who's gay"
So people should only come out of church feeling good? Never challenged or bad about their condition? Good description of a spiritually weak/dead church.
"People want to go to church because they know what they can do about poverty, about Darfur, about the environment."
That's what church is supposed to be about according to Dean - material things. Forget the spiritual.

Why would evangelicals want to anything to do with the Democrat Party as long as the Democrats support abortion and homosexual marriage and don't support prayer in school?

"People want to go to church because they know what they can do about poverty, about Darfur, about the environment." This is the church that AlGore is building now.

A REAL Evangelical Christian would NEVER vote Democrat!

That was the Unitarian church 35 years ago - I remember organic tomato farming and Vietnamese orphans but not God. Dean hasn’t a clue why evangelicals go to church.

Were you ever under the illusion that he was a “saved Christian”? He is only looking at this from a political point, definitely not spiritual. He wants votes and converts to the Democrat party.

Howard Dean is more slick than I gave him credit for. This is essentially a divide and conquer strategy. After that works against the churches, then it’s time to destroy them.

A REAL evangelical Christian would quote Jesus in one of his rebukes to Peter. Get thee behind me, satan.

Dude, this church exists already. They're called Unitarians. Their sermons consist of liberal politics. Don't take my word for it, check them out. They really have no religious doctrine. You can believe whatever the hell you want, and get to feel good because you belong to a "church". Even belief in God is optional. I kid you not.

Heck, anyone with an IQ over 65 would NEVER vote Democrat...except the far left designers of the socialist agenda of the libs...lots of high IQs there, BJ Clinton for one.

The RATs have been busy trying to subvert and co-opt the term Evangelical Christian ever since they held their 2005 strategy conference and realized they were a party without God, guns or guts. They've been on the make ever since trying to talk tough without doing anything and making up phony "gun" organizations. This pitch for Evangelicals is just trying to coax Christians into apostate RAT enterprises.

Bartender—I want whatever he’s drinking. These DNC types know so little about Christianity that it’s laughable! Maybe these fools ought to spend a couple of weeks reading the Bible and touring evangelical churches before they plan on pulling the wool over anyone’s eyes.

Howard Dean, a maniac in search of more converts.
Evangelicals don't want to embrace your Chamberlainesque pacifism, your love of infanticide, and your penchant for grabbing personal property, wealth, and weaponry.
Evangelicals, by and large, love the Constitution. Democrat operatives don't.
I used to be a Democrat, Howard. I know what you're all about.
