I wonder what other "morally wrong" actions he would respect---and just where he draws the line.
I think that not giving sufficient time to one's children is morally wrong, but I wouldn't legislate how much time and what activities a parent must spend and do.
I think that cheating on one's spouse is morally wrong, but I'm not willing to put people in jail for adultery.
I think that repeating gossip is morally wrong, but I'm not willing to put people in jail for repeating gossip.
I think that saying questionable things about a fellow employee at work in order to get a promotion over that fellow employee is morally wrong, but I don't want the government to become an arbiter in office politics.
There are plenty of things that are morally wrong but not things that the government should address. One of the reasons that so many people refuse to vote for conservatives is that they see conservatives as people who don't know how to draw these lines. In the case of abortion, the government should be involved because abortion represents the killing of a little person. That violation of a person's rights is justification for government action and goes far beyond the question of moral rightness or wrongness.
