I think these ancient prohibitions against eating pork arose because of this:

I agree that's the likely source of ancient prohibitions on eating certain foods much like why men should not lie with men as they lie with women or why you shouldn't covet thy neighbor's things.

It's all about building strong and healthy communities. However, by your logic, that sciences has made pork is OK, so too are homosexual and premarital sex.

You got that right : trichinosis. Maybe they could truly punish al queda/iraqi prisoners in general by only feeding them pigs. Perhaps tie it in w/dems that love PORK too.
