I think Rudi is way better than Mitt.. I think he’s closer to Reagan. I see him as a good national security leader.

Sorry you have bad feelings about Rudi. (I also had a cat named Rudi years ago.. who had a broken tail.. not sure if that has impacted my judgement any)

Actually, national security is one of the reasons that I oppose Rudy Giuliani. As mayor, he tried to keep city officials from cooperating with the INS to deport illegal aliens. The attitude of city and state government officials not cooperating with INS is part of why a state trooper let one of the 9-11 hijackers go at a traffic stop even though the trooper saw that the hijacker was an illegal alien. Rudy Giuliani acted the part of grieving leader after 9-11, but his practices in office did nothing to make us safer from terrorism.

People cite his anti-crime record as if that record has any relevance to national security. These issues are completely different. The street crime in NYC was committed by simple thugs who were losers in life because they weren't capable of planning and thinking ahead. The terrorists are more evil but also more clever. They aren't going to give themselves away by jumping turnstiles and flagrantly breaking smaller laws.

I'm suspicious of some things in Mr. Romney's past. He's not always taken the right positions on the issues, but his record as governor wasn't bad considering that he was governor of Massachusetts. I think there's reason to hope that he could do a good job as president. In Rudy Giuliani's case, his stances on the issues have often been extremist liberal stances. I don't see anything to give me hope that he'll be anything but an extremist liberal president.
