The fifth-graders at Paul Burbank Elementary School in Hampton are required to work on an exhibition project as part of the International Baccalaureate program. The subject of the inquiry must be a real-life issue or problem that is local or global and is of sufficient scope and significance to warrant an extended investigation.
Burbank's fifth-graders came to realize that global warming remains the most complex environmental problem of our time and threatens dangerous consequences if not addressed. They chose global warming as their exit project for this year since they felt the issue merited serious attention.
The students wanted to get different perspectives, so several guest speakers were invited to share their viewpoints. Among those were Jon Cash, meteorologist from WAVY TV-10; Lin Chambers, a scientist from NASA; Gary Whiting, from Christopher Newport University's science department; and Joyce Corriere, Hampton High School science teacher. Some students interviewed Pat McCormick from Hampton University, who has received numerous awards from NASA and has written more than 430 scientific articles.
Fifth-graders presented the program to the student body and the school community on April 25. They created interactive games and other activities to involve the students and parents. A small group created a movie, "Global Warming: We Can Make a Difference," using a digital camcorder and iMovie.

The kids sign up for course “Assinine 01”.
And the indoctrination of the captive audience goes on.
Also known as liberalization.
Ten years ago, they would have chosen AIDS.
30 years ago, “Global Cooling”
Forty years ago...Nukes.
They are doing the same sort of things in AL schools too.
What absolute BS.
...so their teachers went ahead and gathered up speakers that were in agreement.
Last go it failed with the too smart sixth graders so I guess they got to keep going down until they find the right answers. Liberals are so predictable.
Hell, its not even a proven consensus.
It is a proven fact; 1/2 of one degree celsius.
If that ain’t enough to make your blood boil, then you ain’t a true American.
What is an International Baccalaureate program? Why are 5th graders involved? Can the average 5th grader even spell Baccalaureate or use it in a sentence?
Now thats funny!
You think that’s bad? A few years ago at an elementary school here in southern New Hampshire, an “Environmental Science” class presented an assembly - they put humankind on trial for destroying the environment!
Just think how scared these kids were when the Global Alarming speakers came to see them.
“Duck and Cover”.
“Emit and Burn”.
Same story.
“The subject of the inquiry must be a real-life issue or problem that is local or global and is of sufficient scope and significance to warrant an extended investigation.”
Now wouldn’t it be fun if the kids were pursue studying victim disarmament zones as a real-life problem?
(Of course the government schools would never allow it.)
Clarification: 0.8 C in the past 25 years.
I better calibrate my thermometer.
