Rudolph Giuliani and his consulting company, Giuliani Partners, have served as key advisors for the last five years to the pharmaceutical company that pled guilty today to charges it misled doctors and patients about the addiction risks of the powerful narcotic painkiller OxyContin.
Federal officials say the company, Purdue Frederick, helped to trigger a nationwide epidemic of addiction to the time-release painkiller by failing to give early warnings that it could be abused.
Prosecutors say "in the process scores died."
Drug Enforcement Administration officials tell the Blotter on ABCNews.com Giuliani personally met with the head of the DEA when the DEA's drug diversion office began a criminal investigation into the company.

Scandals, scandals, scandals. The guy is toast! I can only imagine the Democrats will be so disappointed if Rooty isn't the GOP nominee. It would be such a delicious culmination to the Culture of Corruption!

"Pain killers can be addictive? Who knew?!"That was my first thought. I have yet to hear of one that wasn't addictive in one way or another. The entire basis for this story is just stupid.

Rudy’s history. If he drops out now and a Republican wins he might get a job in the Administration.

Prosecutors say "in the process scores died." Are these scores people who died taking it as prescribed, or hillbilly heroin addicts who took the time released pills, powdered them to eliminate the time release mechanism and then used the powder for an instant high instead of hours of pain releif?

What a complete and utter crock of sh#t. ANY doctor that didn’t realize oxycodone was addictive should have his license pulled. Any doctor that didn’t realize a time release form of oxycodone was addictive should have his license pulled. It’s a GREAT DRUG for what it was meant to treat. Long term chronic pain.

I am no longer a G man fan, but this seems like a stretch.
I know lots of folks with pain problems, and everyone understands the risks with this drug, which has reputation as “the next thing from heroin” in terms of both its effectiveness AND addiction risk. A few years ago, most felt that pain was under-treated because of doctor concern and liability about addiction.
It also does not have the heart disease risk that appeared with some of the anti-inflamatories. Lots of folks with pain would prefer to be “addicted” than dead.
