With this and confiscatory gasoline prices rife with superflous and useless environmental costs and redundant taxes on each gallon is it any wonder that retail shopping dropped the most in April than for anytime in the past 15 years? (thus the market is down triple didgets this morning)

A year ago april we took in 117 billion dollars. this April we take in 177 billion dollars.

This is extraordinary.

I agree with another freeper that suggests we need to increase war spending to start chopping away at Dem preparation to spend big on poverty increasing domestic programs.

Great comprehension! Suck out of the private sector and fund the lazy redundant union sector.

And yet you will see people tout the economy is ‘blazing’ along while everyone is paying more for everything everywhere.

And yet again you will see people attribute this confiscation to ‘tax cuts’ when in actuality the tax cuts are minimal in terms of percentage cuts and they haven’t changed for years.

Meanwhile IRS has been on a hiring tear and upping audits across the spectrum. They have spaghetti code rules designed to trip up anyone on anything.

And where are the spending cuts? Nowhere to be found in the last 6+ years.

Hostage! What kind of a question was that? Aren't we still a government of, for and buy the people? (snort!)

"2:00PM U.S. federal budget surplus hits $177.7 bln in April by Greg Robb

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - The U.S. posted a budget surplus of $177.7 billion in April, the Treasury Department reported Thursday. The surplus is slightly higher than the $176 billion estimated earlier by the Congressional Budget Office. It is the second highest monthly surplus on record, with April 2001 still holding the record at nearly $190 billion. For the fiscal year so far, the deficit has fallen to $80.8 billion, compared to $184.1 billion in the same period last year. Receipts in April rose to a record $383.6 billion compared to $315.1 billion in the same month a year ago. The surplus in April 2006 was $118.8 billion."

There! There's another bulletin fer y'all to peruse!!!

Ok... So what's yer celebrity movie/TV "star" gonna do to straighten all this nagativity up that you so forcefully bring to our intimidated attention, huh??? What, precisely???

Our bigassed "star" of a Repellican Governor sure has helped us out here in CA. He's just about to help everything profitable and productive out of the danged state to make room for all his Art Bell style daydreams and nightmares that he's using to replace the Gray Davis nitemares with stuff that's even far worse!!!

I am not sure what to say. I agree with other freepers that as an American citizen I consider myself part of this republic.

I am cheering for the home team and befuddled as to why others are not— especially when our opponents are so transparently diabolical.

I asked the question because you state “we took in...”. What’s with the ‘we’?

During times of war I am prone to view the world as with us or against us.

We is America.

Arnold was always non-practical in his views. FDT is imminently practical and a strict Federalist.

FDT has not laid out his detailed proposals yet. He has only begun to lay out his views which are strongly conservative.

As a Federalist in political philosophy, FDT will be inclined to limit federal government involvement. He has written extensively on this. Whether he succeeds depends on his ‘mandate’ through Congress. Basically he is the President we should have had the past six years when the Republicans controlled Congress.

As for my view, I am a strict ‘radical’ in the sense of eliminating the IRS and shutting down the Federal Reserve. Of course I don’t see myself as ‘radical’ at all but rather passionate about getting back to the Constitution. I am a big supporter of the FairTax and will be glad to butt heads with anyone that thinks it is less preferable to the ‘income’ tax.

We is the ‘government’?

So we should abolish the idea of private commerce and private property and compel all to submit to government?

This news piece is about government revenues. It’s not about your idea of ‘we’ and ‘our’ revenues. These revenues go to a slothful bureaucracy and a myriad of wasteful programs and contracts for special ‘friends’ and ‘associates’. Some of those revenues will hopefully go for our military. But the rest are going to sink in a black hole never to be seen again. Just watch.
