Where's Reverend Al on Opie and Anthony?
Bob Parks: Black & Right ^ | 5/10/07 | Bob Parks

Okay, it's been a few hours since the Drudge Report linked to audio by "shock jocks" Opie and Anthony's "XM Outrage." The audio is described as...

Warning: Extremely Vulgar Language. Shock Jocks Opie and Anthony engage in discussion about forced sex with the Secretary of State. A studio guest begins describing the scenario as the hosts laugh and encourage him. Anthony talks about the horror for Rice as the guest is "holding her down" and assaulting her.
Don Imus was canned at MSNBC because he and his on-air staff called the Rutgers Women's Basketball team members "nappy headed hos" among other things. The Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson lead boycotts, met with NBC execs, and eventually had Imus fired for racially insensitive remarks.

opieanthony.jpgI respect the free speech, however vile, of fellow Americans and don't believe Imus should have been let go. I wouldn't want to see Opie and Anthony fired as saying outrageous things is what shock jocks are paid to do. You want something a little lighter, listen to a church channel.

Many years ago, I was introduced to a fella who was referred to as, “the Rev.”

He entered our favorite watering hole with a gorgeous woman on each arm, placed $500 on the bar and said “set ‘em up and let me know when you need more money.”

I inquired how he became a reverend?

His response was “I used to sell used cars and then I went to prison.”

Anyone interested could call on Hannity today. He’s friends with these guys nowadays.

One time when WTKK in Boston ran Hannity they opted not to run one hour of his show because O&A were on as guests, so thus it was considered a big promo for owner Greater Media’s competition, XM Radio. They substituted a previous Hannity
hour...

(Greater Media is really behind the “HD radio” effort,
running promos and putting secondary programming on the
HD channels of its stations. There’s no fee to listen
to HD radio but you do have to pay $200 or so for the
unit...anyway, satellite radio was their competitions, so...)

Why do you suppose that?

That was from their sattelite show which you have to pay to listen to, not their public radio show. That guy Charlie is a homeless guy who is nuts. He was bashing Jews today as well. They put him on the show and ask him questions and he goes nuts. I don`t agree with it, but these companies specifically hire these guys to do just that and instead of firing the DJ`s maybe for once the higher ups should get canned. It`s like hiring Andrew Dice Clay to speak on your radio station and then acting all shocked and upset when someone complains. I mean who do these companies think they`re kidding?

"Silly me, I find jokes about rape in bad taste. I must not be hip, open-minded or smart enough to change the station.

P.S. I don’t listen to crap like that. Never did and never will."

Uh-oh! You used the word "crap"! You should be ashamed of yourself and should be CENSORED and banned from FR forever! :-)

My point is that everyone has their own definitions and opinions about what is and is not "acceptable."

I, personally, would never pay good money to listen to radio regardless of the content.

To the naysayers I say, "Change the station or the channel, as the case may be and don't anyone give me any crap about it." ROFL

My sources are saying O and A are suspended from CBS radio as of now and the same source says it doesn’t look good that they will remain on the air at all at this point on either broadcast company (XM and CBS)

Again, I’m not talking about the government or censorship here

You're not, but there are plenty here that look to the government to fix this problem.

You do realize you’re helping Sharpton at that point. Sharpton said something offensive to millions of Americans and said true believers in God vote Democrat. You’re hoping that 2 DJs get taken down a notch by him. Way to keep priorities straight.

That’s the problem with forums. It’s like the game “telephone.” People quickly lose the original point of the column.

Maybe time for a re-read....

The “revs” are filthy hypocrites. They don’t care about racism. They care about promoting their leftist causes of draining money from corporations.
They see Condi Rice as a traitor to her race and believe it’s right to slime her.

Fresh air my butt. More like down-wind of a hog confinement...and yeah, I know what that smells like. These two pukes are more offensive.

You seem to think it is the goverments job to get involved in free speech, which is weird because XM is a pay service and you have to subscribe to it to get the content, like HBO.

I hope Sharpton will respond appropriately.

Bogey780:How is that comment helping Sharpton? Sharpton, Opie and Anthony have said "something" offensive to millions of Americans.

Hypocrisy....I'll keep my priorities straight and I hope they all get taken down a notch. Trash is trash: Opie, Anthony and Sharpton. Talk of raping Rice is inappropriate, disgusting and indefensible. I've got my priorities in order. Whether a liberal or conservative or atheist says it; I hope they suffer some consequences. And it isn't censorship I'm advocating. Just some common decency from the public.
