Who decides the winners of every elections? It’s not Democrats or Republicans, it’s the independents. And with the war unpopular and the President’s approval rating in the tank, independents are not going to vote for a conservative right now. If the Republicans are going to hang onto the white house, they are going to have to go more towards the center. It’s unfortunate, but that’s just the way things are right now.
I’ve been studying politics for a long time. And given the state of our country right now, I just think Rudy is our best shot at hanging onto the White House and continuing Bush’s war on terror, and to me that’s the paramount concern that overrides all other issues including the stuff I don’t agree with Rudy on like abortion and gay rights.

True. That's because the Republican's and Conservatives currently in office, and before the Dems took over Congress, had abandoned the conservative agenda in many ways. Running further away from the conservative agenda by supporting or appointing Rudy will NOT solve our problems. Quite the contrary. It will hurt us more in the long run. We need to embrace the conservative agenda alot more, and that means no Rudy. California Republicans made this same exact mistake with Arnold.

You mean abandon their conservative principles, and move to the left. Perhaps this works in certain states, but this is NOT how one wins a national election. If I, and all other voters, wanted a Democrat agenda, we'd vote for a Democrat.

Who says that the other Republican candidates are not going to continue the war on terror? But that aside, your paramount concern should be other issues besiudes the war on tewrror. How is he going to govern domestically is very important. Him running a war overseas, but governing like a liberal at home, if he were in the White House, count on him to be a one termer, and getting replaced by a Democrat.
