Wolfowitz and Clinton
The Jakarta Post ^ | 10 May 2007 | Editorial

World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz is looking increasingly like former U.S. president Bill Clinton. Both are global public figures who became infamous for scandals involving women.

As we all know, president Clinton fought tooth and nail and emerged as gracefully as could be expected from his scandal involving White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

Not only did he escape impeachment, but most of all Clinton delivered prolonged prosperity to America. Much of America and the world seem to have forgiven him and many even adore him.

Wolfowitz seems to have learned something from Clinton. Despite the intense pressure from within and outside the bank, Wolfowitz is clinging to his position at the multinational development lender.

Wolfowitz has even hired Robert Bennett, a prominent Washington lawyer who helped Clinton settle a sexual harassment suit in 1998. With the blessing of U.S. President George W. Bush, he has mounted a defense.

How things look from the Jakarta side of the ocean. This essay is sort of hilarious.

I wonder, if they discussed this in the blunt terms of what really happened, if they would say the same crapola that they are.

I am not going to go into the salacious details (well, at least not too much),but Monica was a immature stupid, slut, who wanted to improve her position, by lowering her position. I am not sure if the comparison really is fair.

Except .......

“As we all know, president Clinton fought tooth and nail and emerged as gracefully as could be expected from his scandal involving White House intern Monica Lewinsky.”

Is the truth, with the help of our DBM, of course.

As for .....

“——Clinton delivered prolonged prosperity to America.’

I’ve heard it called an empty economy that hurt many!

Since this is mostly about clinton I won’t comment on the reference to President George W. Bush.

What a joke. The only similarity this situation has to the Clinton scandals is that Clinton and Wolfowitz are both heterosexuals

Trust the Jakarta Post to get it wrong. What Clinton engaged in was sexual harassment, pure and simple. He used his power to receive sexual favors from an underling (so to speak). In any publicly traded corporation that would get you fired. He escaped that because of politics and the support of the MSM.

Wolfowitz will be forced to resign because both the politics and the MSM are against him, even though what he did was not harassment and he was following the guidelines set out by his employer.

Hilarious indeed... Parts of this seem to have been written by Lanny Davis or some other Clinton sycophant. And comparing Wolfowitz’ relationship with his girlfriend and Clinton’s with Monica is truly ridiculous.

The one that galls me most, however, is the assertion that Clinton gave us years of prosperity — you can’t fault the Jakarta newspaper from repeating this because this was always Clinton’s claim. But he had so little to do with that period of prosperity — although the news media will never stop telling the tale.
