Figured that one out after listening to some Nam vets --told me about waiting out a firefight chin-deep in a rice paddie...for distraction they amused themselves by blowing a human turd back and forth between their faces.

Human feces is not uncommonly used as a fertilizer in the third world. There are also a great many parasites that are thankful for this. One of the reasons its banned here.

I guess all of you missed my tagline...it should be clear that I don’t consider being “protectionist” a negative. Of course, supporting tariffs isn’t really “protectionist” unless the tariffs are more than, say, 30%. (The despicable whore, Lincoln, called for rates as high as 300%, if I recall correctly. Now, that’s protectionist.) Less than 30% tariff is just a reasonable targeted NRST that favors US jobs and the US worker...and apparently, the US chicken eater, too.

From Itchmo site.

Despite repeated FDA statements saying that there is no risk to human health from contaminated pigs and chickens, the FDA surveillance order indicates otherwise. It states: Pregnant women should not perform this assignment. (Emphasis ours)

Melamine and additional related contaminants have been found in concentrations of up to 20% in analyzed samples. The MSDS for pure melamine is attached as Attachment B and includes warnings “to avoid breathing dust, avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing”. Chronic exposure may cause cancer or reproductive damage.

Clearly, the FDA is concerned with the safety of their own staff’s exposure to melamine-tainted foods. Despite this warning, the FDA told the press and us yesterday that animals that ate tainted foods were safe for human consumption.

This PDF document contains the basis for FDA’s warning to it’s staff.

I’m so sorry! I’m so mad about all this I could scream! I do agree about free trade with free countries meaning “fair trade”

I just feel like we the consumer are being sold out to the lowest bidder with no way to make a choice. I would liks to see our food being made here in the S again. I just hate that we seem to be importing everything. I don’t want to be dependent on China.

The first and last pet on this video is my baby.

Write to Congress, we do not want to have videos of our children and grandchildren like this.

Something has to change.

This is one case where I support enacting a new law. Specifically, to have the country of origin stamped in bold letters on all Imported food. “CHINA” on a pack of chicken as big as a the brand logo.

Under the plan, any country seeking to export meat, poultry, or egg products to the United States must earn "equivalency," with documentation that its product is as safe and wholesome as the domestic competition.

So we would depend on the Chinese authorities to inspect the product and certify it? Am I the only one who believes that the Chinese government would swear that toxic waste was 'safe and wholesome' if they thought there was an export market for it?

Nauseating. Simply nauseating. Thank goodness I buy local, organic chicken, and fish from our local docks instead of frozen mystery crap. Are our lawmakers COMPLETELY asleep? Once we vote for them, we then become disposable?

A personal note. This has been really on my mind lately... An early Mother’s Day “thank you” to my mom (may she rest in peace) for bringing me up to respect good healthy food with the smell of the local land still on it— it was worth everytime I found a gross green worm when shucking pesticide-free corn :-). Bless you for your lessons on how to fight the powers that be, prejudices, and “common ignorance” about manufactured food, how to read labels and question everything. You may just have saved my life with what you taught me. I love you, Mom, and I miss you terribly... you are a unique soul and a great American.

Rosie and Rocky are wonderful, tasty chickens. Oh yeah, and they will actually sustain you, not poison you. Is it worth a little extra $$$ to not poison yourself? Let’s see... $2 more or death... hmmm, tough choice...

> Some freepers sneer at the idea of buying locally, but for me and my family it means food from people we know personally and trust. Screw the chicoms.

The local food movement is full of smelly libs, but even a broken clock is right twice a day. If you are against something simply because libs are for it, you’re not using your brain. I see the same kind of resistance to alternative power and hybrid cars because the libs like ‘em.

I like local food because I know it’s safe and not enriching the ChiComs. I like alternative energy and hybrids because they deny the America-hating muzzies and Kookoo Chavez valuable oil dollars. FReepers need to wake up and look past what libs like, and decide what’s right regardless.

>>The labels don’t say if an “ingredient” came from China.

>So what can we do? This is really frustrating to say the least.

It is frustrating. You’re going to have to bite the bullet and buy local and cook a lot more from scratch, and eschew most pre-prepared foods. It’ll be more time consuming. But you will be in control, and you’ll be healthier.

...store labels do not have to indicate the origin of the poultry.

Note to grocery stores: For your own financial well-being, do it anyway.
