Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told radio talk-show host Laura Ingraham yesterday that the reason he donated to Planned Parenthood in the 1990s was because he supports choices that pregnant women face when considering whether to give birth or abort.
Catholic League president Bill Donohue wants to know more:
If helping pregnant women make choices is the supreme issue for Rudy Giuliani, then he should be able to document all the checks hes written to support Crisis Pregnancy Centersnot just Planned Parenthood. If he cant, it is logical to conclude that the only real choice he thinks is worthy of his money is the one which results in the death of innocent human beings. And that would make him a fraud.
Not good for Rudy.
Can’t be - he personally hates abortion... uh, ok.
I guess that I should remind all of you Rudy haters that any candidate who voted for or supported campaign finance reform was voting to silence the social conservative grass roots efforts. They may have given lip service to right to life, but they really wanted to cut all of you off from influencing national politics.
Haven’t you heard? Rootie doesn’t want to talk about this. He only wants to talk about things like terrorism because that’s what “real citizens” want to talk about.

Giuliani may do his best to conceal his real beliefs, but anyone who looks at him honestly can see the truth.

As I said before, he’s toast. This happened in the past, and it might have been Donna Hanover who was the real donor.
BUT, once again, he is not repudiating it now, he is excusing it. Not good enough.
What it clearly means is that if he ever got into the White House he would still shuffle and excuse himself while he pushed through one pro-abortion measure after another, and while he nominated one pro-abortion judge after another.
He simply cannot be trusted on these issues. He doesn’t even understand why pro-lifers are upset. He has a huge moral blind spot.
My question is this:
Did Rudy’s city attorney come after Crisis Pregnancy Centers for ‘deceptive advertising’?
It seems to me that NYC some time ago went after pro-life, non-profit counseling centers.
Stating that he donated to Planned Parenthood because they "provide alternatives" to expectant mothers is like stating that he donated to the Nazi Party to support Josef Mengele's medical research efforts.
I don’t use this term loosely with regard to public figures, but Rudy Giuliani is one seriously f#%&ed-up @sshole who has no business serving in any government capacity in a free nation.
Heheh.
Public records show that in the '90s Giuliani contributed money at least six times to Planned Parenthood. Federal tax returns made public by the former NY mayor show that he and his then-wife, made personal donations to national, state and city chapters of Planned Parenthood totaling $900 in 1993, 1994, 1998 and 1999. If Rooty contributed to Crisis Pregnancy Centers and did not list it on his tax returns, we can safely assume it never happened.
Oh, wait a sec----- maybe altruistic Rooty donated Pampers or baby clothing and furniture like a lot of pro-lifers do. /s
that would be rudy too, wouldn’t it?
If Rudy does get the nomination, you one issue pro-life voters can’t make any difference in a national election if you go third party...
/sarcasm
Any candidate who supported campaign finance reform was wrong to do so and has to answer for it. Still, I'm not sure why you think bringing up this particular issue helps Rudy. You may have had a point if Giuliani was on the correct side of this issue, but he sided against the first Amendment as well! So, again, how does bringing this up in an abortion thread help to boost Rudy?
Planned Parenthood provides no “alternatives” that I know of. The only things they are interested in are contraception, sterilization, abortion, and “family planning,” which is a euphemism for reducing population, never for planning to have more kids or to adopt them out.
I guess, then, that Rudy must always give money to activities he HATES!!!
Someone said last night that it was most likely Mrs. Hanover-Giuliani who actually gave the money. I'd like to see those cancelled checks, myself.
