DENVER - Rudy Giuliani emerged as a favorite among many members of the GOPs largest gay organization, who cited his record on social issues, taxes and defense.
However, delegates to the Log Cabin Republicans annual convention said Friday they also fear that the former New York mayor, in his bid to capture the Republican presidential nomination, might be waffling as he reaches out to the more conservative GOP voters who hold sway in the primaries.
Ricchiazzi, who wore an "I Love Rudy" button, cited Giulianis remarks on abortion during the GOP presidential candidates debate Thursday night.
With a record of supporting abortion rights, Giuliani said "it would be OK" if the Supreme Court upholds the 1973 Roe v. Wade Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion. "It would be OK to repeal it. It would be OK also if a strict constructionist viewed it as precedent," he said.
Former Republican Sen. Alan Simpson of Wyoming, the events keynote speaker, agreed. He told the group of about 200 that he thinks the party is in a better place than it was after delving into issues like the Terri Schiavo case and gay marriage.
"Who the hells for abortion?" he added, explaining that it is a personal decision and should not be on the party platform.
"Dont be impatient. Stay in the party. Dont leave because you can change it," Simpson said.
Thompson apologized for the answer on Friday, saying he had made a mistake.
That said, Sammon called Giuliani "a very strong leader with an inclusive record."

Well, I don't either, if you're referring to their decadent lifestyle.
If you're speaking politically, which I'm assuming you was, then you should care about them. Because our schools and families are under constant attack by them.
Rudi is done after the news yesterday of his past contributions to the child killer organization (Planned Parenthood).
No I was talking about their lifestyle and joking a bit with the "hot and bothered". I am against gay marriage (although could care less about non-religioius civil unions) and detest the teaching of children about their lifestyle.
Not that big a deal to GAYS for obvious reasons.
“The Cabin boys will need to find someone else to get behind.”
I’d say thats the motivating force which dominates their lives....
Just a thought...
Maybe ith the lithp.
This is an asinine position, and one that I hear a few times too often. Care to explain how discussion of a state-sanctioned "union" can somehow manage to stay out of classroom discussions?
Is gay "marriage" equal to civil union? Here's the litmus test:
Will anyone be unwillingly forced to recognize any aspect of this type of relationship? (In housing, employment, benefits, etc.)
This wouldn’t be so if Giuliani hadn’t been a champion of the radical gay agenda for so long. Ever heard of the Stonewall Riots? Look it up. Giuliani is a member of the Stonewall Veterans Association and annually commemorated the Stonewall Riots and held official functions in their honor, inviting the Stonewall Veterans Association members as honored guests. And that’s just one piece of Giuliani’s pro-radical gay agenda past and present.-
And don’t forget Martha Reeves...she’s an honorary member as well...gotta get rid of all my copies of Heat Wave...damn, and I liked that song....
Well, I wouldn't say that, but I guess I learned something new, so thanks. I am not generally one to advocate playing God in any circumstance, so it probably keeps me out of that camp.
A marriage is recognized in the eyes of God, a civil union in the eyes of the state. I live in a country where there is a separation between church and state. However that separation is not as stark as it is in the United States. Even where I live citizens are expected to recognize and keep separate the laws of man from the laws of God. It appears as if you have trouble making that separation. There are a number of countries in the Middle East where you might feel more comfortable.
