Couldn’t happen to a more perky person.

The viewership would probably increase if CBS brought back Walter Cronkite because people would watch just to see him keel over and have CPR performed on him.

Simple stuff. Global warming. All the BS these outlets spew contribute lots of methane to the atmosphere. Gore has convinced his people to quit watching. ;-)

They’ve got to let Katie be Katie!
Corporate suits are forcing her to tone it down to appease their right-wing masters! America wants the real Katie!

Why the collapse? Why? because I'm tired of the news being a 30 glorification of socialism and a 30 minute anti-American we're-losing-the-war diatribe. I'm finished with alphabet network news broadcasts. I watch the local news and that's it. Anything else comes from Fox and FreeRepublic.

... Perhaps if she were to bias her reporting to a more liberal point of view .....

The NY Post showed a picture of her at Boston's Logan airport with her new boy toy.
He looks like a little punk, and he is 33 years old (she is 50).
Good thing she is spending those CBS millions to benefit mankind, stop global warming, prevent the spread of AIDS, feed the children, and every other Liberal pet cause.

I always thought they were nuts to pay her that kind of money in the first place. Why?/

the at least 1987 qualifier refers to Nielsen ratings not going back any further
I remember as a kid in the '70's the next door neighborhood actually participated in the Nielsen ratings by logging all the shows they watched in a little book. Did they lose all that data?

Couric was always thrilled to point out if President Bush had low poll numbers, bringing it up as often as possible. She kind of had that doesn’t he know no one likes him sneer.
