The U.S. and Great Britain looked like old friends Monday. The queen of England is in Washington, D.C. A state dinner is set to take place but one person will be missing. Nevada senator Harry Reid decided to not accept his invitation, but many others will be there.
It was a day of high pomp and pageantry and the weather sparkled. The kind of day one would expect to welcome a queen. On the south lawn of the White House, 7,000 invited guests wore their best hats and best smiles for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.
"It is a moment to take stock of our present friendship, rights taking pleasure from its strengths while never taking these for granted," said Queen Elizabeth II.

That was hilarious. The frozen smile on Nancy’s face cracked me up.

She reports for incarceration June 5, so she’s not in jail yet.

I can’t stand Harry Reid, but I see his point.
I’d pass on an affair with the Queen myself. She’s ancient, and not very good looking.

Short version: Nancy and her husband were in a receiving line. Nancy reached out her hand to shake the Queen’s, and held it too long; you could see the Queen trying to remove her hand.
Nancy gestured to her husband, who shook the Queen’s hand pretty hard.
Then Nancy started talking to the Queen, who looked at her, said nothing, and moved on.
The look on Nancy’s face was my favorite sight of yesterday.

"...Or, there may be another explanation for Harry Reid's behaviour, lately. Anyone?..."When Harry was asked about refusing the invitation, his reply was: "It's not my thing."
The reality, of course, is different. Great Britain and the entire British Commonwealth of Nations are staunch and avid Allies with the USA in the 'Global War on Terror', a phrase that has become 'verboten' in the dimocRAT lexicon.
The 'War' is actually going well (as well as wars can go), and success in the prosecution of that war spells doom for the dimocRAT party in the 2008 elections.
Harry cannot allow himself to be seen as encouraging the fight in the war, and he's staying away so he isn't seen with losers.
The dimocRATS have wagered a huge amount of Political Capital on losing this 'War-on-Terror' during the Bush Administration so-as to gain the Presidency and super-majorities in the House and Senate in 2008. They've got a huge surprise coming .................. FRegards

Do you know Churchill?
No, but a good friend is an executive with the Prince's Trust (Prince Charles' Charity which raises millions of pounds each year to help disadvantaged kids.) She speaks very highly of him.
