Rudy would bring in the independents, the moderates, and the disaffected democrats.

That is the only way the reps are going to win a very tough election in 2008.

The question is ,, Will it be enough to compensate for those in the base who aren’t brought along?

I don't think he would, once the MSM hits its stride during the general election. But let's assume this is true -- how does he bring in enough independents, moderates and disaffected democrats to make up for several major GOP constituencies who are certain to go third party or stay home? A winning GOP candidate has to turn out all segments of the GOP plus some independents/disaffected dems.

Nope. The ONLY way is to embrace Reaganism. Why do you think Rudy is trying to do that and swerve right? It’s because he cannot run as a liberal mayor.

‘Those who appease always get more killed than those who stand up to barbarism’

And yet, you’ll appease to ‘win’ an election. Interesting. Wonder who will get killed if that ever happens.

He would also drive away large numbers of Republicans. Why do you keep trying to drum up support for a cross dresser? (A liberal dressed up as a faux conservative.)

BTW, are you a registered voter? If so, what party?

tkathy - I checked your “in forum” comments and you seem to be repeating this comment on various threads.

You really love Giuliani, don’t you?

Rudy would split the Republican party and lose horribly. The few indies, liberals, and disaffected Dems that he would pull would far outnumber the core Republican voters that he would lose. His views are in opposition to the majority of the Republican platform and he can only rely upon keeping Republican ignorant about his views and record, hoping that Republicans believe his lies about his liberal views and record, or upon the fear of electing a Democrat instead. Fear, deception, and ignorance are terrible things to base your campaign on, but that is all the Giuliani's got. That won't go far enough and he'll lose BAD in the General election and destroy the Republican Party while he's at it.

Rudy would bring in the independents, the moderates, and the disaffected democrats.

Perhaps he might, but he's going to lose the Christian/moral/right vote, so it won't do him any good to bring those votes into his camp. While he brings one group into his camp, he pushes away an even larger group of voters.

That is the only way the reps are going to win a very tough election in 2008.

No, it's not. IF the GOP actually runs a real conservative, they can win, and that is the ONLY way they can win! Rudy cannot possibly win, because he's a liberal!

Winning just for the sake of winning is not acceptable to a lot of conservatives here. Should we sacrifice ALL our principles for the sake of political expediency? Surely not!! We then lie to ourselves.

A lot of folks on this site are conservatives first and republicans second. Not the other way round.

Yes, but he would not draw the conservatives in key swing states, and would never win New York, Connecticut, and even California against Hillary.

The man is an idiot. He truly is.
