The accused D.C. madam has a new criminal lawyer, and he's defended some of the area's most high-profile clients.

A federal judge has appointed Preston Burton to represent Deborah Jeane Palfrey in her federal racketeering and money laundering case.

Burton represented Monica Lewinsky during the President Clinton impeachment, and he's represented the FBI's Robert Hanssen and former CIA agent Aldrich Ames in their spying cases.

Palfrey had butted heads with her previous federal public defender A.J. Kramer. Last week, District Court Judge Gladys Kessler ruled she would assign a new attorney, since Palfrey's and Kramer's differences were "irreconcilable."

Madam and her old shark. The new one will undoubtedly do a better job representing her interests -- and generate much more publicity in the process.

Is ABC still teasing its audience with that big thick printout of names, but still just teasing?

The only Republican already outed himself so I guess this is dead story now for the holder of the names.

She's not too bright. Clintoon must have ordered the best he could find to 'handle' Monica, given what was a stake for him.

Now the same guy surfaces to serve as attorney for Ms. D.C. I am sure there are a lot of Dem names to protect, and she should make no mistake that's what he's there for, not her.

No wonder ABC decided not to go back in time before the Bush admin when it 'aired' its story.

Yeah well this list of names is a godsend for Democrats - all they have to do “leak” a rumor that some republican is on the list and suddenly the media will be reporting it as fact.

His name will get dragged through the mud, he’ll spend millions of dollars and hundreds of hours trying to defend himself, and when it finally comes out that he wasn’t on the list, no one will believe that.
