Clinton’s childhood story is an agrarian tall tale
The Daily Herald (Chicago) ^ | May 7, 2007 | Chuck Goudie

(snip)

“When I was growing up, the neighborhoods I lived in were surrounded by farm fields, and every harvest season we had a lot of the migrants who come up from Mexico, through Texas, following the harvest, all the way up through Illinois and Michigan,” Mrs. Rodham Clinton has told the spellbound.

Of course millions of people across the country have no idea where Park Ridge is located. They don’t realize it is, was and forever will be an appendage of O’Hare International Airport, attached to Chicago like your nose is to your face.

Mrs. Rodham Clinton has been telling the Big Woods of Park Ridge story since 1996 when she told an audience: “Those of you who did not grow up around Chicago in the 1950s and can only imagine flying into O’Hare where everything looks developed, might find it hard to believe how many farm workers we would have.”

Maybe she mistakenly figured that the American Farm Bureau, headquartered in Park Ridge for decades, was actually a day labor purveyor of hired hands. Or that the State Farm insurance agency office in town was really a government welfare office for migrant workers.

Regardless, if tonight’s Chicago speech holds true to form, Mrs. Rodham Clinton will describe how she used to help migrant farm families in Park Ridge. “The children would go to school with us,” she has said many times, “and every Saturday morning my church group, we’d go out and baby-sit the younger children, so that the older children could join their families in the fields.”

She is correct that in Cook County in the ’30s and ’40s “farmers purchased most of the available land in the county and began raising crops and livestock.” There is just one problem. It was the 1830s and 40s...

Thanks, I must have missed the call. In any event, I think Rush would get a kick out of it...

Don’t you mean log one-room schoolhouse where Hilly helped teach the little migrant children English and radical social justice?

It is located in a small community called Orchard Field, and was a manufacturing site for Douglas aircraft during WWII, hence ORD.

We could start a thread to help Hillary out: Lies Hillary hasn’t thought up yet.

I’ll start: Back in my younger days in Chicago, I worked as the first Playboy Bunny. I worked hard for the money and inspired Donna Summers’ great disco hit. From this experience I understood the plight of women who sold their bodies for cash. It inspired me to start Ms. magazine and NOW, where I met like-minded hags, er gals.

Dear Hillary:

I grew up in Joliet, IL and my family had farming friends. Not once do I recall people from Mexico coming up to IL to work in the fields. And neither do I recall immigrants enrolled in our public schools.

And she played the banjo and sang folk songs to the chilluns while churning cream with one foot and spinning homespun yarn with the other foot.

A few years ago she told 2500 of the smartest women in the world that she learned about racism when she played soccer against a black goalie. Not one person mentioned to her that girls didn’t play soccer when she was 14.

Lies Hillary hasn’t thought up yet.
:::
Your list will not be very long — it was funny listening to Rush a few weeks back when he noted that everything we hear from Hitlery from now on, will be some of the most collossal LIES we will hear in our lifetimes. And when you think about it, lying is all the libs can do...to avoid becoming totally irrelevant or end up in jail, or both.

In the snow. On icy days we'd have to wrap our bare feet in barbed wire for traction...

Dear hsmomx3,

You don’t recall immigrants in the public schools because you are a typical Republican. You, like all Republicans, are blind to the poverty around you. Of course immigrants are invisible to you. All the downtrodden are invisible to your ilk. Only I see the invisible people. And in my life I have done so much to help the invisible people, but no one else sees my queenly generosity, because these people are invisible.

I was told that the airport abbreviation for O’Hare was “ORD” because the airport was surrounded by “orchards”

It comes from an airplane factory known as "Orchard Place," that predates the airport being renamed O'Hare. Maybe there were orchards before this factory was built, but you're going back quite a ways.

Well, she lied about this. But the story was essentially true. I mean, at one time there were farms in the area where she lived, and even if she didn't go out and babysit, she really, really wanted to....so this is an OK story.

Right?

...Remember how the liberal mind works... sheesh, if can't tell the truth about the little stuff, what about the big stuff????
