the main purpose of the national guard is defense, not picking up after natural disasters.

And what idiot Gov. didn’t have a plan in place with all the heavy contractors, road builders, etc to have this available in a disaster????
Here in Florida, the Dade County (Miami) LEOs have a standing arrangement with air boat owners in case of airplane crashes and other disasters in the Everglades. When ValueJet put one in the ‘Glades in ‘96, they were there in minutes.
Did Gov of Kansas think there might ever be a tornado there?

Time to replace that Dem in Kansas. I wonder if any Pub could beat her if she runs again? BTW, 52% of the Kansas National Guard is still in Kansas. She could call them out any time she wants.
