The Coming Chaos in Kosovo
New Europe ^ | 5 May 2007 | Wes Johnson

Posted on 05/06/2007 10:54:20 AM PDT by tgambill

The effort by the US to cram an independent Kosovo down the throats of the EU and Russia, not to mention the victim of this international hi-jacking – Serbia - has almost run its intended course. First of all, we saw how prestigious US-influenced, or controlled, “think tanks” such as the International Crisis Group (ICG) and the Rand Corporation floated the veiled threat that the Kosovar Albanians would no longer accept UN supervision of their tiny impoverished province; that they would again take up arms to achieve their independence.

By Wes Johnson

Next, the UN was enlisted to seek a solution between the implacably opposed two sides of a rump-Serbia (having lost Montenegro) and the Kosovars. Special UN envoy Martii Ahtisaari likely knew that a negotiated compromise solution was out of the question when he began this thankless task; but he soldiered on (likely in good faith) to a predictable dead end, recommending finally EU-supervised independence. The issue is now before the UN Security Council awaiting discussion and a vote. Looking at the problem from every angle, it seems likely that a veto by Russia, or by China, will only serve to delay eventual formal recognition by the US and other states.

Greece, Slovakia, and Spain did express opposition to full independence at a late March meeting of EU foreign ministers. Spain took the position it did because of its own breakaway Basque problem. Likewise, Slovakia has a large concentration of Hungarians. Greece spoke so out of feelings of Orthodox solidarity with Serbia, nationalist clashes with Albania and their concern that the Turks of north Cyprus would use independence for Kosovo as a means to further recognition of their breakaway entity.

Russia has its Chechnya problem and China has Tibet, but neither has yet to tip its hand as to how it will vote. There are many other minority groups scattered over the globe that can state a claim for independence once a precedent is set in Kosovo. Based on the logic being used by the US, the Kurds in Iraq and Turkey should have a state – as well as the Tamils in Sri Lanka.

Surprisingly, the natives of Hawaii haven’t caught on yet. They comprise 60 percent of the population of over a million (like Kosovo) and strongly dislike the whites from the mainland. They undoubtedly recall that Hawaii was occupied by the US in 1893 and annexed in 1898. If given independence, the EU will be expected to support it financially. In early April, the EU pledged a half billion Euro over the course of the first three post-status years. It had already pledged 200 million Euro in technical support. More modestly, the US Senate has proposed US $214 million. These funds will be eaten up as they were in the past; and much money will be required to fund a contingent of 1,500 police, prosecutors, judges and customs officials whose EU writ is to monitor the province – but not to administer, or actually govern it.

Members of a disbanded Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) retain power and influence in the province and work closely with Kosovo’s political leaders and Albanian organised crime. Together, they control much of the trafficking in heroin in West Europe. Prostitution and trafficking in illegal immigration is a profitable sideline. The Kosovo Protection Force and the police provided jobs for many KLA members and, in turn, they provide a level of security commensurate with their background. Bombings and political murders have occurred with ugly regularity. Kosovo run by Albanians will be similar to a violently criminal US city street gang that, after having intimidated the mayor’s office, then finds itself on the receiving end of millions of dollars in project aid. The situation in Kosovo poses much greater danger, however, because once the EU tires of its “nation building” (It is difficult to call it that because it will not be empowered to run Kosovo) and turns off the money spigot; the KLA will likely come out of the closet and renew its wars in southern Serbia and in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM). It will do so as an alternative to attempting to rule over a failed state – taking up again its original goal of uniting Kosovo with the western region of FYROM and Albania proper to form its “Greater Albania”.

There’s no way the Euros can wash their hands of Kosovo and blame it on the US.

Sure, bill clinton had the highest profile, but he only did what Tony Blair and Gerhard Schroeder wanted him to do. They were all in in up to their eyeballs, as were the French and the rest of Old Europe.

I agree with what this writers says. But don’t blame the US. The UN is currently running the show, with approval of France on the Security Council. It’s only Russia that is blocking it.

Is Jesus going to have to come back to the world before the KKKlintlers, mad-dog Albright, Paul Dogowitz and the other mental defectives responsible for this disaster are held to account? What's it gonna take??

For that matter, where is George W. Bush on this one? Just something else he'd rather not think about or talk about because of his CFR affiliation??

I can agree to some extent. They will blame the U.S. and we are responsible for lying from Bosnia to Kosovo. Cohen said that 100,000 K-Albanians were missing believed Massacred, then then changed it to 10,000, finally only finding roughly 2,000-2,500 bodies, many of which were either combatants, innocent Albanians and Serbs, and others murdered by KLA, the rest were killed by NATO’s ill conceived bombing plans.......We lied about the 8,000 Muslims “massacred” by Serbs...when we brought, literally, Muh. from Afghanistan to Bosnia. Also, reference Operation Fiend.

Yes, I agree with you that the European insiders are running the show along with the U.S. Insiders happily coming along. There is a split or maneuvering for power when the NWO agenda takes shape. Kosovo is caught in the middle and will “more than likely” be used as a fuse. Clinton was gladly doing what he was intended for, start the conflict in the Balkans. We are as guilty as the European counterparts and need to be held accountable. Wesley Clark did what he was told, and did it haphazardly at best. So, we are to blame as much as the “European counterparts”. The CFR and the RIIA are on the same agenda and gladly.

Oh, its more than that. Greater Albania apparently includes a swath of Greece and parts of Bulgaria. The Greeks and the Bulgarians positively loathe Albanian Mohammedans. There will be a big war and if the dhimmis of both parties in the ruling elite of this country stay out of it (Can you say “Religion of Peace"?), that war will mean the end of Mohammedanism in the Balkans.

Yes, Jesus will be coming back, the New World Order will take over for a very very short while and then the brown stuff hits the fan during this time. They will be held accountable in ways they have not even imagined.

Bush SR. knew about this early on, Clinton was destined by the CFR to carry us into the Balkans with Independent Kosovo, as a long term objective to set a precidence for the rest of Russia. My opinion, they will use Kosovo as a trigger to drive a separation between Russia and the rest of Europe. Maybe, as a strategy to forge a relationship between Iran, Russia, Syria, North Korea, and finally China on one side. Sort of like dominos. The purpose of FDR provoking the Japanese and setting up Pearl Harbor as bait, purposely keeping all movements of the Japanese Fleet from being reported was to provoke a war with Japan. The war with Japan would guarantee that we would enter the ongoing World War and go to war with Germany. This was the intended purpose of allowing Pearl Harbor to be set up to enter the war in Europe, thus FDR would not have to break his promise to not send Americans overseas.......

This is a strategy, not history repeating itself. In any case, Bush is focused on the Middle East, and Iran. The American agencies and European counterparts are keeping the Balkans operations running and following the plan so to speak. I could only imagine that they are running into more opposition than expected and will have to provoke an incident or set something up to light a match........

Good, good post. Absolutely, that is the goal and a good prophesy. The plan is to come out of the closet and renew the war in South Serbia and Macedonia (I still call it Macedonia). It will include Chameria...

Oh, don’t get me wrong, we both are right.....it’s a very complicated situation as you well know. We could argue a point and the way it has played out....:) we both could be right at the same time...........what a mess.

Why should we intervene any further in that area? Let the Serbs and Kosovars and Albanians work it out. No matter who you support, you’re going to piss off 75% of the people in the Balkans.

Have you heard about the Muslims arrested outside Fort Dix? Clinton’s Kosovo Folly is the gift that keeps on giving.

I don’t regard many of the activities of Kosovars in the U.S. as a direct result of the Kosovo War. Many would have emigrated in any case, and I have to consider that many of the postings are from people who are still angry about the war and can scarcely be regarded as objective.

It’s only Russia that is blocking it.

And Russia's position is the only defensible one.

They are here because of Clinton’s policies during and after the Kosovo war.

The only objective fact that we need to be concerned about is that they are here and willing to attack the US.

When you stick your head in the sand like an ostrich in reaction to things such as this, just remember what part of your is sticking up exposed. Yeah, the Muslims like that sort of offering.
