An 18-year-old punches his school's football coach and grabs his genitals. Two middle-school age sisters jump a police officer called to calm a disturbance. A grandmother charges a group of students at an elementary school, and then strikes the principal. A boy tries to sell a gun to his friend in elementary school.

Man... makes me happy I live in the country. The schools here still use corporal punishment, the parents all know one another and the school system is highly rated... academically. No drama......well, except for the grannies that listen to phone calls on their scanners so they have something to gossip about. (Better than soaps in their opinion) :)
Of course it’s not mentioned how the population has grown in the past couple decades and that parents have become oblivious to their little darling angels’ behaviors and refuse to allow the school to discipline them in any way.
Might as well for he certainly doesn't have to worry about being knocked senseless.

That's because "kid's have rights too" and the ACLU and their ilk has ensured that ANY form of discipline bestowed upon a child by a parent is unlawful.
There shouldn't be any complaints from the liberal sector for this is exactly what they have promoted. Society taking care of children, not parents.
This is a problem that can easily be solved by spending more money. </sarcasm>
In my 8th grade gym class, the same sort of thing happened. This really big kid got angry at the coach, an even bigger man. So, he took a swing at the coach, hitting him in the jaw. The fight was over in a matter of seconds. A few rows of lockers were knocked over, and the kid was escorted out of the locker room by the coach with blood on his face and all down the front of his shirt. We never did see that kid for the rest of the year. He was expelled.

Typical liberal response.
Violence is increasing. It’s time to pull out of Milwaukee Public Schools...
“Teachers say there’s often a complicated, sad story behind such scenes.”
Yeah...and that sad story usually starts with years of day care (or, parental abandonment)
Interesting quote.
Bush’s fault.
Doesn't Milwaukee have a strong voucher program? Sounds like the decent people have already been pulling out...
Then over the next 30 years the entire racial makeup of the city changed.
The Muslims won’t pick up passengers at the airport where the "Flying Imams" became famous.

I wouldn’t go to Milwaukee if I won a first-class, all expense paid trip to the sh!hole.
I live in Massachusetts and am accustomed to all the negative posts about the state but Wisconsin is off the charts with their political correctness and multi-culturism.
I keep wondering for how much longer the good people of this country will continue to fund big city Blue cesspools.
The airport Muslim problems are in Minneapolis not Milwaukee. They may both be indian names starting with “M”, but they are not the same city.
You Easterners are always sadly clueless about anything outside your region.

I am a public high school teacher...and a card-carrying Republican. You must understand something about our public schools...in many, many, cases there are no true parents at home.
Moms are often, bubble-gum blowing women in their late twenties, thirties, and forties who have never been married. They have two or three children by different men, the kids have never known a father or a strong parental figure.
I teach in a large, mostly middle class suburban high school. The kids often talk about their moms’ boyfriends. These kids have never seen the inside of a church. Most of the ninth graders have sex lives.
I can’t begin to tell you how bad it is, not that our media would ever notice. They’re too busy beating up on Bush.
Unfortunately, the #1 priorities of the district are preservation and growth of their budgets, even though enrollment has been declining rapidly for years. And then when you consider that enrollment is still declining, even though graduation rates have come up 10 or 15% and you really have something.
A school board of union plants representing a district of union employees all scheming to keep the gangbangers in classrooms to ensure federal funding.
Good luck with it - we just sold our house just blocks off the lake in Milwaukee in one of the nicest and most affordable neighborhoods in the city. I’m looking at adding 20+ miles to my daily commute for the simple reason that my children are hitting school age and we’ve worked too hard to parent them to have it all undone by putting them into a system that endangers kids and has statistically proven to put them well behind norms academically.
The system is a drain on taxpayers and hasn’t created a qualified workforce. The end result of years in which leadership was confronted with choices of evolution and revolution and instead chose status quo. The system is an untreated cancer that is enveloping all facets of life in Milwaukee.
In the early 70’s I graduated from the high school system in the county next to Milwaukee. Back then the teachers did a$$-kick the students that got out of line. Two instances I remember. The first in 7th grade. A student who had a bully reputation mouthed off to a female teacher. She walked over to his desk and slapped him flat out of his desk. The rest of the year when she called on him is was yes ma’am, no ma’am, or the answer is blah blah blah, ma’am. Another instance in 10th grade a very tall student mouthed off to a very short male teacher, “hey, I didn’t realize they allowed midgets to teach”. The short male teacher pick him up and slammed the guy into the wall, and his feet was not touching the ground. The student was repeating a lot of i’m sorry sir, I apologize sir, sir this, sir that... Through out high school it was pretty well understood by the student body, though not always, but if there was to be a fight, take it off school grounds. If not, even if you won, your might get your a$$ beaten by a teacher.
Yes, the MPS has significant problems. Did you see this article:

I found it interesting that large percentages of students in suburban high schools are Milwaukee students taking advantage of excess capacity. Good for capacity utilization, bad for MPS.
I think that the Menomonee Falls rating was accurate based on neighborhood discussions.
