Thanks! I wonder how the left is going to spin this one?
Of this I am certain...
With this election France is now on the Al Qaeda clock. Sarkozy's first 100 days are going to be critical. Will he take a proactive approach to France's Muslim problem or will he take the the typical liberal approach and just accept something is going to happen and focus on the aftermath. (Buy more first responder radios.)
I understand. We also have to remember that our definition of pro-America or conservative can be different than someone in France or even England.
France was never off the WOT clock, IMHO. But, I also agree with you on the first 100 days or six months as critical. It does appear that French voters are fed up with radicals in their own country and want the government to crack down on them.

The Silence of the Bells
by Baron Bodissey
A new church is being built in one of the rough neighborhoods of the French city of Sartrouville. But the bells in its tower will never call the faithful to prayer in fact, its tower wont have any bells.
Thats because the church authorities and the parish priest have decided to be sensitive about their Muslim neighbors. Theres no indication that the Muslims have made any particular demands for the silencing of bells, but the church is doing it anyway.

I watched the Breitbart thing (needs a new name!!) and was very impressed.
But I’ve always liked Thompson.
Edwards would have to take his hairdrsser. That desert wind plays heck with one’s hair.
I don’t know about that...without the media covering for the dems, ignoring or justifying their stupidity and crookedness, they would be exposed for what they are.
If the press was even halfway fair, the dems would be scorned and laughed out of power post haste.
“Empires” and great nations don’t last forever. One could only hope that we last as long as Rome and have the same impact on history. Alas, it doesn’t look that way.
distinguishing between the drive by media and the Dhimmicrats is making an artificial distinction. They are a continuum of corruption.
Go to the People? With a “News Media” that routinely ignores or deliverately misreperesents what he says? That gives about 50 times as much coverage to his critics? Just how is he going to get his message TOO the people in the face of a willingly politically corrupt “News” media?
The “Conservative” Alternaive media? You mean the same people who spend all day every day whining mindlessly “Why doesn’t Bush do this, why doesn’t the Bush do that.” EVEN if Bush was as creat a communicator as Slick Wille or Reagan, it pretty impossible for any President to get his message out when the people who are SUPPOSE to be his echo chamber are more intrested in shooting their own side in the back then winning.
Yes...very good points. If an ascendant nation is entertaining thoughts of a long run at the top, it would seem prudent to engage in a great deal of introspection as to how it got there and what needs to be done to preserve the institutions and attitudes that made success possible. I am concerned, as you say for many reasons, that we have taken our eyes off of the ball.
Yes, he has the bully pulpit. He can address the nation on TV in prime time and has. He holds televised press conferences. He gives his weekly radio address. He can arrange for televised interviews. It is far too easy to blame the MSM, which is definitely biased. There are other ways to communicate using the new media. The old media is declining in the number of viewers and readers. Its influence is on the wane.
The Conservative Alternaive media? You mean the same people who spend all day every day whining mindlessly Why doesnt Bush do this, why doesnt the Bush do that. EVEN if Bush was as creat a communicator as Slick Wille or Reagan, it pretty impossible for any President to get his message out when the people who are SUPPOSE to be his echo chamber are more intrested in shooting their own side in the back then winning.
Conservative Alternative media? That's your strawman, not mine.
Cheer up....looks like Hillary won’t have any excuse to go to France for her photo op with Segolene Royal like she did with Arafat’s wife.
It isn't important, in and of itself, that America lasts as it is vital that freedom and liberty remain. If America is the defender and home of freedom and liberty then it is important to support her, and I feel that is the case now. We are still the "last best hope for humanity" and I don't see another waiting on the horizon. I am not interested in defending America uber alles, I wish to defend freedom and defending and standing with America, and George W. Bush, warts and all, is the best way to do that right now.
I'm a Heinlein devotee. Here's a couple of representative quotes that are part of his writings that have helped shape my thinking
You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once.
"As to liberty, the heroes who signed the great document pledged themselves to buy liberty with their lives. Liberty is never unalienable; it must be redeemed regularly with the blood of patriots or it always vanishes. Of all the so-called natural human rights that have ever been invented, liberty is least likely to be cheap and is never free of cost."
I have also followed his protege's, Niven and Pournelle. That's one of the reasons for my screen name. I want us to get off this rock so that, eventually, we have some other places to turn to if liberty falters here. In the meantime America is about the only game in town. If we fail here we may fail forever. I, for one, will try to go down fighting.
Exactly, but Tenet was such a coward he wouldn’t stand up to the press and their lies about WMD. He was a clintonite to the core and was attempting to hide the truth with the Wilsons.
Pray for W and Our Troops
