Excellent link, anita.
I found this comment in that thread very powerful, because we keep trying to separate some muslims from other muslims according to how ‘warlike’ they are.
From Captain’s Quarters:
Carol said the religion of peace died. Well, it did, but that was a lot longer ago than you may realize.
According to Robert Spencer and Gregory Davis, Islam was a religion of peace for the few years that Mohammad was in Mecca — before he had an army and was vulnerable to attacks from those who resented his claim to be the one and only prophet. This is the period of time when all of the “peaceful” and tolerant surahs were “revealed”. The surah that says, “There is no compulsion in religion” was “revealed” when Mohammed had no power to compel anyone.
Later, after he was forced out of Mecca and made his way to Medina, he began raising troops and resorting to warfare to spread his power and force others to accept him as the final and only authority to whom God spoke. During this period of time, the violent, kill-the-infidels-wherever-you-find-them surahs were “revealed”.
Someone pointed out that God wasn’t being consistent in his instructions, so Mohammed had another “revelation” in which Allah pointed out that he could “do all things”, including changing his mind and “abrogating”, or negating, previous revelations.
So the later, most violent of the surahs, the ones commanding all Muslims to engage in jihad and spread Islam by the sword, became official Islamic doctrine. And the hadiths that inform Muslims about Mohammed’s life — and therefore inform them of proper Islamic behavior — are full of brutal stories of Mohammed’s head-chopping conquests and slaughters.
I highly recommend reading Islam 101 here: http://www.jihadwatch.org/islam101/

A caller to C-Span just said that he thinks Unity 08 could win with a ticket of Ron Paul and Mike Gravell. LOLOL.
Tenet didn’t have to “throw a curve ball” to get his 15 minutes of fame. All anyone has to do to get onto these Sunday shows, is bash Bush - in a book, on stage, in front of a camera, and bingo. The DBM will pay good money for an interview.
Anyone know where Dodd’s getting his statistics on what the Iraqis think?
Timmy is reading from Woodward’s book “Plan of Attack” as if the made up dialogue is fact.
Tenet says that didn’t happen. Says you owe the President your best discipline. (What the heck does that mean?)
Now Timmy makes up other dialogue that Tenet SHOULD have said, i.e., that it’s not a slam dunk.
Can't say where he pull them from on a family friendly thread.
Got it! ;^D
Thanks for the link....very interesting read.
Hope everyone has a chance to read it.
Oh, lordy, now Timmy is using Woodward’s “State of Denial” as fact about what people said and didn’t say and what they should have said.
I don’t get “Meet the Depressed” until 10:30...and, by then I have a headache. So, that’s for the comments.
Tim asks “Do you now believe that the war was a mistake?”
Tenet gives a non-answer.
Chris Dodd is an idiot, just lie after lie after lie, and unfortunately Chris Wallace is not countering him, although he did try. Dodd keeps saying that AQ is NOT in Iraq and we need to redeploy to Afghanistan where the real threat is. What a dweeb and an idiot. These democrats don’t have a clue, and Wallace should have been much stronger calling him on it. He would have if Dodd was a republican, but he just lets him skate.
Wallace should ask him why he and his colleagues refuse to debate on FNC. Will he?
For me, the most damning admission by Tenet is that he met with Bush SIX DAYS A WEEK but did not tell him about the threat assessment in the summer of 2001 because “presidents are not the action persons, the National Security Officer is the correct chain of command.”
If I were Clinton, G.. forbid, I would sue Tenet for defamation, for writing that he did not talk to Clinton but to Sandy Berger - the action guy!
Why doesn’t Wallace ask Dodd what the Dimms are doing to reduce skyrocketing gas prices????
Nope .. but Dodd apparently thinks the only place we should be fighting Al-q is in Afgan.
He doesn’t want to admit there are Al-q in Iraq
What an idiot.
