Last week's debate among 10 Republican presidential candidates encompassed all the usual issues and then some, but some of its most striking moments centered on two topics: abortion and evolution.
While his opponents restated their opposition to abortion rights, former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani put himself on all sides of the issue, including staking out a new position that he would be "OK" with the repeal of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision establishing a constitutional right to abortion.
But he also said he would be "OK" if a conservative judge upheld the decision because it was a long-established precedent.
Giuliani said in the debate that he opposed using public money to finance abortions, but just last month, he told CNN that he supported using public money, the same position he had held as mayor. And while he said he hated abortion, he said he saw it ultimately as a matter of conscience, concluding, "I would respect a woman's right to make a different choice."
Some surprises
As he has ventured into Republican primary territory, often dominated by the party's conservatives, Giuliani has edged toward a more nuanced position on abortion.
Still, his acquiescence in the debate Thursday to the idea of a repeal of Roe v. Wade surprised some longtime supporters.
"I was appalled," said Kelli Conlin, president of Naral Pro-Choice New York, which stayed neutral when Giuliani was a candidate for the Senate running against Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Conlin said that she recognized that it took "courage" to be the only person on a stage to stand up for abortion rights but said that if Giuliani became the Republican presidential nominee in 2008, she doubted that her group would remain neutral again.

LOL! That picture about sums it up.
They had BETTER make the fact that the next president will appoint AT LEAST TWO SUPREME COURT JUSTICES a clear stated issue in this campaign. HAMMER THE MESSAGE. Its a foregone conclusion that the Dems will have maximum turnout...irrespective of candidate....they are voting against Bush. The Republicans and silent majority, however, are apt to stay home if the Dem nominee isnt Hillary (and it looks like it wont be). GET ON MESSAGE.
The Bible says that God created the earth in 6 days and on the 7th he rested. Are we to believe that God's days were only 24 hour periods? I doubt it.
Any politician, who supports abortion, evolution, gau marriage or global warming are no christians by any means. The Bible says so, american christians should head the warnings.
Funny that they never go into detail about what makes him a leader beyond the fact that Orka Winfrey said he was “America’s Mayor”.
Well if Orka Winfrey said it then I am just going to have to recheck my facts about the mayor! Wow, maybe he is a leader. /s
I’d be willing to bet that the subject never comes up in the televised debates which would be the best time for that to happen. If they keep having liberal moderators you can almost count on it. No mention, no opportunity.
Giuliani is in control of his own self-destruct buttons.
According to Rudy, God created evolution too. Now that's covering the bases. Did you know he cleaned up crime in NYC?
Fingers crossed and hoping the majority of us see the treble hook buried in the bait.
Wake up.
They hate him.
Hey Beagle, ever hear of something called plagiarism? LOL!!
Just kidding of course, but your post is almost word for word what I have been posting on Rootytootie threads for the last month or two. I'm just glad to know that I'm not the only one here who can see what the MSM is up to. Keep on posting the truth, maybe a few Rootytooties will eventually see the light.
The myopic Tooties think the media is out to get their man when the situation is really the opposite, at this point at least. If Rudy is nominated, God forbid, the all-out MSM attack will begin the moment the balloons start falling on the convention floor. But for now he's their golden haired boy.
BTW, have you noticed how the shift in the MSM attitude toward Fred Thompson is rapidly changing? When his name first began getting mentions in conservative publications they weren't alarmed, but now that his stock is rising fast in the polls the articles about him are becoming more hostile with every day that passes. The last thing the MSM libs want is for Fred to come out of the convention with the nomination in hand. If I was a betting man I would bet money that every network and major news org in the US has swarms of people out scouring the hills and valleys right now trying to dig up dirt on Fred for use if and when he announces his candidacy.
I wonder what politics would be like in a country with an unbiased, fairminded media. The US has never enjoyed that luxury since we kicked old King George out.
Jim, question,

Does this mean FREErepublic.com is also fredrepublic.com
or have you changed the name?
Like Reagan said, “The enemy of our enemy is not necessarily our friend.”
