Bruce Willis: Conspiracy Theorist (But New Hunt Tape Does Suggest JFK Assassination Inside Job)
TMZ ^ | May 5th 2007 | staff

Does Bruce Willis know something we don't?

In this month's Vanity Fair, Willis divulges who JFK's real killer was -- and it's not Lee Harvey Oswald. "They still haven't caught the guy that killed [President] Kennedy. I'll get killed for saying this, but I'm pretty sure those guys are still in power, in some form. The entire government of the United States was co-opted. But, he adds, "I don't think my opinion means jack [bleep], because I'm an actor. Why do actors think their opinions mean more because you act?" Good question.

But Willis, perhaps, was aware of something the staff of TMZ did not know:

--- From Crimes and Corruption: "New Tape Suggests Kennedy Assassination Inside Job"--

Audio: Tape suggests JFK assassination was inside job serving as the final testimony of CIA veteran and convicted Watergate conspirator, E. Howard Hunt on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy has surfaced.

It has been distilled down from a 20-minute tape made by Hunt at his home in Miami, according to his oldest son with whom E. Howard Hunt had enjoyed a good relationship in later life.

The unmarked cassette was received in the mail by his oldest son, Saint John Hunt, in Janurary 2004. At the time, the 86-year-old E. Howard Hunt was not well. According to Saint John Hunt, his father's only request was that the information not be released until his death. Shortly thereafter, he recovered from his illness and he would not die until January of 2007. The tape remained in Saint John Hunt's hands the entire time.

According to Saint John Hunt, the existence of the tape was unknown by his extended family until its broadcast on "Coast to Coast Live with Ian Punnett" on April 27, 2007. Many of the details of the tape were included in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine published earlier in the month.

The contents of the tape are consistent with E. Howard Hunt's CIA career. He was a significant team member of many CIA "wet ops," that is, bloody operations such as the violent overthrow of the democratically-elected Guatetamalan government of Jacobo Arbenz in 1954 and the assassination of Che Guevara. The Guatemalan civil war that resulted from the CIA-backed coup would eventually lead to the deaths of 200,000 people.

In his lifetime, E. Howard Hunt often would be glib about his roles in these "wet ops" and saw them as a kind of patriotic duty for which he was uniquely suited. He was urbane, well-connected and well-educated. He published over 85 spy novels and enjoyed the respect and companionship of many of Washington's conservative elite such as William F. Buckley who wrote the forward to Hunt's most recent memoirs.

But despite many allegations over the years, E. Howard Hunt had always denied until any involvement in the assassination of JFK. In 1978, Hunt testified under oath to Congress that neither he nor the CIA had had anything to do with the murder of the president.

According to this tape, he was only half-lying.

The "wet op" that was pulled off in Dealey Plaza on November 22, 1963 may not have been orchestrated by the CIA proper but rather was put together by several CIA veterans and contract players-for-fire in a "non-sanctioned" hit originally "suggested" by then Vice-President Lyndon B. Johnson. One of the many purposes of this tape, according to E. Howard Hunt, was to make clear of LBJ's involvement in the assassination.

Perhaps as a way of justifying the assassination, Hunt seems focused on establishing the "chain of command" to this action that allows him to see himself as following orders toward a greater patriotic goal.

On the tape, the man Hunt refers to as "Frank" is, according to written notes taken by Saint John Hunt, CIA Operative and later Watergate co-conspirator Frank Sturgis sometimes spelled "Sturgess." The mastermind appears to be Cord Meyer.

Dave Phillips was also a CIA Operative in Central and South America.

This tape also confirms the long-held suspicion that David Morales was a key member of the assassination team.

What is not on the tape is "Lucien Sartie," the man that Hunt, according to his son, confirmed earlier as the Corsican-born French contract hitman who was flown in to take the "head shot" at JFK from behind the Grassy Knoll.

What is not on this tape is motive but that is attested in other testimony.

These men allegedly hated Kennedy.

They saw him as soft on Communism, soft on Castro, guilty of sending their friends to their torture and deaths during the Bay of Pigs fisasco and a bad risk for the future of the country. They also did not respect him as a person for his philandering and other behaviors which had yet to become public knowledge but would have been known to them.

They were also resentful of the way that the White House had been treating the CIA through Kennedy's disdainful public posture on intelligence and the firings of many of their former associates.

In sum, with the permission of LBJ, Cord Meyer, David Phillips, David Morales, E. Howard Hunt conspired to create a "non-official" hit "for the good of the country."

And here, finally, is the taped testimony that proves that once and for all.

Saint John Hun, residing in California, who was overnighted the tapes from his father in Texas for what E. Howard Hunt explained to be more secure with delivery in the shortest timeframe. E. Howard Hunt had asked his son not play the tape until after his death.

Glenn Beck highlighed Hunt on his show on May 3, 2007. On the tape E. Howard Hunt claims to have been aware of a "Big Event" in the making which is believed to be the JFK assassination.

Hunt was questioned at the time of the assassination, as he and others were "the hobos" sitting near the train tracks above the grassy knoll. E. Howard Hunt speaks clearly, eloquently and in quite detail on the tape provided for air. There is a longer tape said not yet made public.

One of the other Hobo’s was always thought to be Charles Harrelson the father of Woody Harrelson. Years later when the senior Harrelson was interviewed by the media, he was shown the pictures of the Hobos. He laughed that one looked like him, but claimed it wasn’t him.

It later turned out that Harrelson's father was a freelance hit-man. He was accused of murdering a Texas businessman when Woody was just seven years old and was convicted of the crime six years later. When Harrelson was in college, his father received two life term sentences for the killing of a federal judge. His father recently died in prison of a heart attack on March 15, 2007.

Blogger Gunbroker I referenced, as well, having more Beck appearance detail on this story.

There is no way to confirm the accuracy of this tape, so it will only fuel conspiracy theorists.

One thing that I have not heard much of before, though, is the implicit involvement and encouragement of Lyndon Johnson. Johnson certainly had the motive, means, and temperament necessary.

E. Howard Hunt worked for the CIA and later the White House under President Richard Nixon. Hunt, with G. Gordon Liddy and others, was one of the White House's "plumbers" — a secret team of operatives charged with fixing "leaks".

Hunt organized the bugging of the Democratic National Committee at the Watergate office building and was also found to be responsible for a break-in at the office of Ellsberg's psychiatrist.[2]

A few days after the break-in, Nixon was recorded saying "This fellow Hunt, he knows too damn much."[3]

Hunt Testifies Before Watergate Committee

Hunt died on January 23, 2007 in Miami, Florida of pneumonia. [9][10] His memoir American Spy: My Secret History in the CIA, Watergate, and Beyond is to be published by John Wiley & Sons, March 2007.[11]

The following is a transcript of Hunt’s confession on the audio tape clip:

heard from Frank that LBJ had designated Cord Meyer, Jr. to undertake a larger organization while keeping it totally secret. Cord Meyer himself was a rather favorite member of the Eastern aristocracy. He was a graduate of Yale University and had joined the Marine Corps during the war and lost an eye in the Pacific fighting.

I think that LBJ settled on Meyer as an opportunist, parent—like himself a parent—and a man who had very little left to him in life ever since JFK had taken Cord’s wife as one of his mistresses. I would suggest that Cord Meyer welcomed the approach from LBJ, who was after all only the Vice President at that time and of course could not number Cord Meyer among JFK’s admirers—quite the contrary.

As for Dave Phillips, I knew him pretty well at one time. He worked for me during the Guatemala project. He had made himself useful to the agency in Santiago, Chile where he was an American businessman. In any case, his actions, whatever they were, came to the attention of the Santiago station chief and when his resume became known to people in the Western hemisphere division he was brought in to work on Guatemalan operations.

Sturgis and Morales and people of that ilk stayed in apartment houses during preparations for the big event. Their addresses were very subject to change, so that where a fellow like Morales had been one day, you’d not necessarily associated [sic] with that address the following day. In short, it was a very mobile experience.

Let me point out at this point, that if I had wanted to fictionalize what went on in Miami and elsewhere during the run up for the big event, I would have done so. But I don’t want any unreality to tinge this particular story, or the information, I should say. I was a benchwarmer on it and I had a reputation for honesty.

I think it’s essential to refocus on what this information that I’ve been providing you—and you alone, by the way—consists of. What is important in the story is that we’ve backtracked the chain of command up through Cord Meyer and laying [sic] the doings at the doorstep of LBJ. He, in my opinion, had an almost maniacal urge to become President. He regarded JFK, as he was in fact, an obstacle to achieving that. He could have waited for JFK to finish out his term and then undoubtedly a second term. So that would have put LBJ at the head of a long list of people who were waiting for some change in the executive branch.

I first heard about this one very late night when I had to run out for some “necessities” to a 7-11. It was on Coast to Coast AM. The problem with conspiracies is they expect you to exclude all other information for the sake of “special information” that is weighted in its accuracy or lack thereof by some “special” process that is not based on weighing the known accepted facts. There is more evidence supporting the allegation that Robert Kennedy played a role in the death of Marilyn Monroe than there is that JFK was assassinated.

Oh, I am fairly certain that JFK was assasinated, I remember it was in all the papers.

While I haven’t ever accepted the “official” version of the assassination, this tape is just another in the series of claims of conspiracy. It cannot be verified or corroborated with anything other than the same circumstantial claims that other conspiracy theories use.

Too much time has passed and much of the evidence has disappeared over the years.

We all have to just accept what we do and move on. November 22, 1963 was a long time ago. Many here today weren't even born yet and probably don’t care. Those of us that do recall the day have grown old and regardless of what brought about his death, will it really make any difference in our lives today?

Here is where it all falls apart. Taped testimony can’t prove anything.

Mary Pinchot Meyer & John F. Kennedy documented lovers.

Born to wealth she attended upper-crust private schools, through which young Mary met both her future husband (Cord Meyers) and future lover (JFK). Mary was the wife of a top-level CIA official and one of JFK’s lovers during his Presidency. She was also a reporter for Mademoiselle. When free-spirited Mary decided to try LSD, she turned to Timothy Leary. Mary was murdered on a Georgetown towpath beside a canal in October 1964.

Cord Meyers could have had motive.

Soon enough Rosie and the other nutjobs will be saying, seriously, that GWB had something to do with it. Never mind that he was just 17 at the time. Or they certainly will try to implicate his father. After all, aren’t all those “Texas oilmen” evil like JR Ewing?

"Those of us that do recall the day have grown old and regardless of what brought about his death, will it really make any difference in our lives today?"

If true, it only proves what many believe, that within our government are evil self serving men who will do anything to further their selfish ambitions, and do away with anyone who stands in the way.

But then that's probably only a "conspiracy" theory.

In the Rolling Stone article St. John says:

"Actually, there were probably dozens of plots to kill Kennedy, because everybody hated Kennedy but the public," .."The question is, which one of them worked? My dad has always said, 'Thank God one of them worked.' I think he knows a lot more than he told me. He claimed he backed out of the plot only so he could disclaim actual involvement. In a way, I feel like he only opened another can of worms." He takes a deep breath. "At a certain point, I'm just going to have to let it go."

One person I would have thought would have dug the deepest into the assassinaton of JFK was Senator Ted Kennedy. I guess he just decided to "let it go".

Many are going to claim anyone who accepts the possible validity of this as being a tinfoil hat type. But one thing that would remain unanswered regarding this tape is:

Why? Why would E. Howard Hunt make this tape and go to the trouble he did to do so if it was all a lie?

This is a pretty elaborate plan and a lot of trouble to go to so long after it was all over.

As Kathleen Stewart writes in Paranoia Within Reason,
"Events and phenomena call to us as haunting specters lodged somewhere within the endless proliferation of images and reports . . .the more you know, the less you know."[1] There may be more information than we can bear. Having it all, bringing every relevant and available fact into the conversation, as the Habermasians like to say, may well entangle us in a clouded, occluded nightmare of obfuscation.
