Pray for President Bush - Day 2409

Dear Heavenly Father, we are thankful this day that You are good, and that Your love endures forever. We cannot fathom the depth of love which You had for us that caused You to send Your only Son to die for our sins, but we know that greater love has no man than to lay down his life for his friends, and that You have done so for our sake. We proclaim Your mighty acts this day as we bring our prayers and petitions to You, giving You all the praise and glory for what You have done on our behalf.

Father, we thank You for Your great mercy in giving us a President who honors You with his life and constantly seeks to do what is right. We ask that You would be with him at this hour and that You would give him great wisdom and discernment in all things so that he can make decisions that are pleasing to You. We thank You that he has consistently upheld the sanctity of life and marriage and that he has sought to govern with morality and decency. We thank You that he has revealed a patience and calm that can only come from You as he has been attacked cruelly from all sides. We ask that You would be with him and with Laura, blessing them and protecting them as they serve first their Lord and Savior and then this nation.

We pray today as well for our troops, especially for those in harm’s way in Iraq and Afghanistan. We thank You as well for their willingness to sacrifice their own freedom for ours and we lift them up to You, asking for a blanket of protection to be placed over them. We ask that they might continue to seek out and destroy the evil enemy that they fight, and that their victory might be swift and sure. We pray for the American people that they might see the truth in what our troops are doing and that the lies that the left and the media have been telling for years will be silenced and the truth finally be known. We pray for complete healing for those who have been wounded, not only in body, but in spirit, and we pray especially for the families and loved ones of those who have fallen in the cause of freedom and peace, that they might be washed over by the peace that only You can give.

And finally, Father, we pray for our nation, begging Your forgiveness for our sins both as individuals and as a nation. We continue to pray fervently that the one whom You have chosen to lead us through perilous times might rise up in the coming months, and that he might be one who honors life and continues the fight for the unborn and a culture of life that President Bush has led. We pray that the flames of Your Holy Spirit might be ignited throughout this land and that we might experience a revival such as we have never seen in America. We thank You for all Your blessings to us and ask that You lead and guide and bring us closer to Yourself as we seek to serve You. In the strong and glorious Name of Jesus who is the Christ, Amen!

Help us to stand strong and united so that our Judeo-Christian heritage is never bartered away in the name of politics. You are the strength of Your people, Lord.
