A horrifying video showing a 17-year-old Kurdish girl being stoned to death for having a relationship with a Sunni Muslim boy has made its way onto the Web, drawing outrage and condemnation from international human rights groups.
The graphic video, posted on YouTube, shows Dua Khalil Aswad, a member of a minority Kurdish religious group called Yezidi, being stoned and kicked in the streets of Bashika, a predominantly Kurdish town near the norther capital of Mosul.
The stoning happened last month but only came to light Thursday when the video was posted on YouTube.

It seems that everyday as I go bout my business, that I run into people who are saying that America is now a “bully” nation, the Pres Bush is most dangerous man on planet, and that we deserve any futher terrorist attacks on our own soil. They call him the “Imperialist Regime”. I am greatly disappointed in our President. His lack of action to stop flood of invaders from southern border sickens me.(can’t get job unless Bi-lingual, bill boards in Spanish, banks openly saying “Los Bancos de los Latinos”etc, etc, etc infinity) Protecting our borders is one of the main function of the US government. I am concerned about how we will “complete” the task in Iraq (what ever that means). But same time I don’t appreciate that our VOLUNTEER soldiers have to endure daily deadly attacks in Iraq and at home from our Touchy-feely, warm, fuzzy Demo leaders in Washington. I think President went after wrong country-should have gotten Iran. I have no solutions, except “Come Lord Jesus”
Our intervention has changed the law and the attitude towards ‘honor killings’ amongst law makers. What was good enough for Saddam is not good enough now.
Actually, our intervention has empowered the fundamentalist Shiites who were kept down by Saddam's boot. They now have a constitution that - in contrast with the secular government of Saddam - identifies Islam as the source of all law. In the countryside, Sharia law is being imposed by mullahs who have been "liberated" from their suppression under Saddam's dictatorship. And the Christians have been mostly driven out of the country.
From what I've been reading, this behavior has only been happening for the past three years, since we "liberated" the Shiites and other fundamentalist Muslims from the tyranny of Saddam's secular government. He was a cruel sadist, but he directed his cruelty against the Islamic fundamentalist zealots. They were kept down during his dictatorship - Sharia law, for example, wasn't allowed. Today, in many parts of the country, from what I've read, things are different. The mullahs have been "liberated" and they're imposing their fundamentalist ways on the countryside.
“Saddam increasingly portrayed himself as a devout Muslim, in an effort to co-opt the conservative religious segments of society. Some elements of Sharia law were re-introduced, and the ritual phrase “Allahu Akbar” (”God is great”), in Saddam’s handwriting, was added to the national flag.”

Stoning and oppression of women has been part of muslim society for centuries. So has muslim on muslim aggression and sectarian warfare. It’s that larger concept that I was referring to that won’t be changed in just a few years.
If it can ever been fully changed, that is. And that is anybody’s guess.
I am not attacking you, and, I would just like to say that there are millions total from Iraq, Jordan, Iran, Syria, Afganistan, Kuwait, Saudia Arabia, and tens of other Middle East countries, and, from other countries in Eastern Europe and Western Europe, Russia, China, Japan, North and South Korea, the islands, and, in fact, all over the world, who are thankful for, and pray for the American Soldier and the success of the US of A. People who yearn for freedom, those who have freedom and want to keep it, those who want freedom of religion, freedom from tyranny, freedom of speech..................they want the U.S. Military to win, they want the dictators to lose.
The sacrifices that our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines make every day are not in vain. They are the heroes of this generation. Anything that we have that is precious and good, is protected by their continued sacrifice. The world is a better place because of them. Those who serve with honor and pay the ultimate price are welcomed at the gates of heaven by their loved ones and a just and loving God. Those who serve and live with honor, and pass on later in life, are treated likewise in the next life...........
We in America and those in other places, all over the earth, are living in freedom as a direct result of the sacrifices of our brothers and sisters who answered the call in WWI, WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, Desert Storm, in other wars and conflicts. And, now, in Iraq and Afganistan, and in other places all over the globe, our beloved armed forces are carrying the banner of freedom and justice. It is not easy, and no one in their right mind ever says that it will be easy........war is hell..............but war it must be when the forces of evil are combined and bent on the dominion of the human race!
In the process of fighting world terrorism we have taken two countries, the size of Texas and California, rotated hundreds of thousands of troops (approaching millions) in and out of the war zones, will less loss of life of our heroes than ever before in our history.
We are fighting enemies that hate us and want to destroy us once and for all. We are hated because the communists and the radical islamists and the socialist democrats encourage and foment the hate world wide.........have done so for decades, and will continue doing so..........We are hated because we, the United States, are the only thing standing in the way of total world dictatorship by the socialists, marxists, humanists, communists, and religious nuts who want to kill all of us!
Instead of calling for our troops to withdraw, we should be standing on our chairs, shouting and clapping, encouraging them to fight on in this battle and the battles that are to come..................
I'm a little surprised about that too. They seemed to be much more civilized. Guess I was wrong.
They probably think the same about the West and our legalized infanticide/abortion.
In the past Yazidis avoided military service which would have led them to live among Muslims, and were forbidden to share such items as cups or razors with outsiders.
The religion prohibits eating lettuce and wearing the color blue, and pouring hot water on the ground. No, really.
I think that's enough religious education for me tonight.
They aren’t Muslims. The Muslims are the worst, for sure, but these guys aren’t Muslim...
You said — “The Religion of Peace at it again.”
—
Well, you would be mistaken then. They’re not Muslim. I’m all over the Muslims for all that they do, but these guys are not Muslims. It pays to get the facts straight.
You said — “If the ROP ever gets hold of America, most woman would be stoned to death.”
—
Well, that may very well be true, but it does not pertain to this story...
You said — “These people are sub-human freakin’ animals.”
—
Well, in terms of what they did, that’s very true. But, you know..., those very same people are the *strongest supporters* of the U.S. invasion and temporary occupation of Iraq — of *any* in that entire region. They praise the U.S. troops, all the time. They say that they cry over each and every U.S. military person that is killed. They say they love the Americans.
So, you’ve got an interesting dichotomy here — you say that these particular people, the Yezidi, are “sub-human freakin’ animals — and yet they are our best cheerleaders and supporters in the entire region. Very interesting...
.
And then — “That’s what Saddam thought, too. And he treated them like animals.”
—
Well, I wouldn’t be using Saddam Hussein as a character reference....
You said — “But it turns out that liberating fundamentalist Muslims and Kurds “liberates” them to act like fundamentalist Muslims and Kurds.”
—
Well, they are neither Muslims or Kurds. They considered themselves Yezidis. They’re an interesting group and they are the biggest supporters of the U.S. Military in the entire region of the Middle East. They say that love the Americans and they cry over each U.S. military person that is killed over there.
And, they don’t subscribe to the Koran, so they don’t follow Mohammed’s teachings...
You said — “Sorry, folks, we have no business being foot patrols in that part of the world. We can do our business from the air and with allies on the ground. Other than that, lets stay the hell out of the hell hole!”
—
Well, from what I was reading, in *that* particular area, where these people are at, is one of the safest areas in Iraq for the U.S. military. They actually love the U.S. there and they are the U.S.’s greatest supporters.
You said — “Any suggestion that American soldiers shouldnt be staying in Iraq, in the middle of a civil war, for an open-ended unending period, is defeatism! dont you know?”
—
That particular areas is one of the safest areas for the U.S. military. They love the U.S. in that area...
Ann Coulter was and still is right.
