Iranian Walks Out Of Dinner With Condi
CBS NEWS (Online( ^ | 5/4/07

(CBS/AP) Iran's foreign minister walked out of a dinner of diplomats where he was seated directly across from Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, on the pretext that the female violinist entertaining the gathering was dressed too revealingly.

"I don't know which woman he was afraid of, the woman in the red dress or the secretary of state," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said Friday, regarding the actions of Iran's Manouchehr Mottaki.

Rice herself was questioned by reporters about the lack of a direct conversation with Mottaki, even though it appeared she was "chasing" him.

"Uh, well, you could ask him why he didn't make an effort," she replied. Then she laughed. "Look, I'm not given to chasing anyone."

So the face to face between Rice and Mottaki never happened, reports CBS News correspondent Charlie D'Agata. Instead, U.S. and Iranian delegations met at a lower, "expert" level, which while significant, is not a first.

"Our officials did, as they did in Baghdad, have an opportunity to exchange views about the substance of this meeting," Rice said.

The dinner episode Thursday night amid a major regional conference on Iraq perfectly revealed how hard it was to bring together the top diplomats of the two rival nations.

Going into the summit, the Iraqi government had hoped for a breakthrough meeting between Rice and Mottaki. Instead, their only direct contact was a wary exchange of pleasantries over lunch Thursday, punctuated by a wry, somewhat mysterious comment by Mottaki.

Mottaki walked out of the diplomats' dinner on the pretext that the female violinist entertaining the gathering was dressed too revealingly.

Hah! Most on-point, despite featuring a different instrument.

Now, if she’d arrived at the dinner wearing that outfit ...

In order to beat a culture like the Arabs, you have to break their pride, shame them and bring them completely to their knees. Anything less and they smirk and consider it a win.

If we back down, we lose face....we have to crush them and shame them to have any chance of winning in the long run. It’s all they understand.

*snort* Not hardly...I despise feminists ALMOST as much as ROPers. You use the tools you got to break an enemy. It’s no different than Pershing ordering bullets coated in pig’s blood.

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was accused of “indecency” on Wednesday after he publicly embraced and kissed on the hand his old school teacher. .

Never said they approved of such conduct by men, just that they didn't kill them for it.

ultra-conservative Hizbullah newspaper ... which has no link to the Lebanese Hizbullah of the same name.

In a Pig's Eye it doesn't.

You suppose those are the boots she would have worn to walk all over this dude? Those spike heels would hurt, and punch holes in delicate places.

Give me a break.

You just caved to all things Muslim.

I do not think we have to go over there and don burkas to appease those wishing to kill us.

You are acting the very same as those here who will pay for foot washing facilities in school/public restrooms so that muslims can prepare for their worship service, but do not allow a child to give a classmate a bible.

You are acting the same as all those paving the way for the muslims to overtake America and destroy us.

“This type of indecency progressively has grave consequences, like violating religious and sacred values,”

Yeah, religious and sacred values such as the right to behead with dull knives a reporter as he screams through his gurling cut throat. Sacred values such as using children as bombs, killing innocent people with car bombs.

Makes you really respect their religion doesn't it?

Makes me so very thankful that when God created the world, he did so as a God that teaches love rather than a god served by beheadings, torture, cruelty, selfishness and slaughter.

How different our lives would have been if the God that created us and this earth had been of the nature valuing evil and horror. He leads us toward love for our fellow man and Him. You don't see any love represented by the muslim faith as shown by the cruelty and horrors honored by the terrorists.

Agree - and it draws those that love torture, killing and cruelty. It gives them license to exercise the activities they thrive on. Which is why it is gaining so many recruits in the prisons.

Mottaki took one look at her and likely witnessed a rare feeling, of his cojones crawling into the nearest orifice to hide. Give him "A" fpr perception and "F" for cowardice.

You bet.

This woman should run for the presidency. She has all the makings of a woman of great wisdom and patriotism for our nation.

God lets Moslems choose their own path. We should let God handle them.

My point is one of priorities: To get the job done that America needs done, send a man.

We could skip all this girl-talk about who sat where at the party while our sons die fighting Iran in Iraq.

Walking out on a dinner with Condi Rice? That minister has no idea what he’s missing. And he calls himself a man?

Condi is awesome. It’s quite an indictment of the Islamist world that they don’t appreciate such an accomplished, beautiful woman.

We can’t send a man to deal with one individual while the woman who runs the department deals with the others.

Over time, people managed to deal with Golda Meir, Madaline Albright and women from other countries. Do you think every country in the world who have women in foreign relations jobs will send men? Sorry, it will not be done.

If a nation wants to deal with other nations, they have to deal with the people weilding the power of the position and that would not be a representative male. It would be the one that had risen to that status and they would want to talk to that person face to face.

We send representatives over there all the time. Yet, they want a meeting with the President, the Secretary of State, the Vice President. Guess that means they feel slighted with only representatives. No nation is going to quibble over who they have to deal with - they deal with the powers that be or they are only dealing with an underling.

Welcome to the new feminist culture where men die so women can have a job.

Well I just suggest you make all those women stay home and cook and let their husbands earn a living for them, okay?

Now, if that husband happened to have abandoned the family, surely those women would not need to work, they can find another breadwinner given enough time.

Just maybe they will agree with you and quit interferring in the male world. Looks like you are ready for a muslim controlled society. Where is your burka?

I will bet you stay home, have a husband that provides for you and then you expect the whole world to conform to that pattern. Well, sorry to let you know, but not everybody has a perfect family and those children have to eat.

Feminist culture - my word. Guess you expect Condi to go back to being a maid or some other duties where she would not be able to use her brain. You might remember, she is single - not a feminist, just living her life to the best of her ability.

Sounds like you have a problem and it all comes down to the fact that women work. Good grief. Be thankful you can stay at home and not have to do two or three jobs.

God will handle the murdering muslims. But we are given enough sense to know we defend our country, our families.

Aren’t you thrilled that America was already created for you and you never had to fight for the freedoms you have or the wonderful country you were born into?

Don’t expect me to sit back and let that country be stolen from us, or for terrorists to come over and slaughter us to get this country that our ancestors fought to provide for us.

Donna, we started out laughing at the Iranian for running from his job and giving such a weak excuse.

Now, we’re laughing at you for your pathetic attempts to convince us that he was justified.

If you’re female, you’re hypocritical when you dare to write such drivel but criticize Dr. Rice. Perhaps your own self-loathing - justified or not - drives you to project to women who have earned positions of respect and the men who who recognize their worth.

If you’re male, you need help.

(signed a woman doctor)

I don't understand why you people always resort to personal attacks. Well, maybe I do - that's what Condi did, too, sigh.

I never said he was justified. I said he will never change. Only a feminist would waste the time trying to change him.

You want to destroy his country because he doesn't believe like you. Funny, that's what he plans to do to us.

We have decided, in our wisdom, to ignore our Judeo/Christian culture to embrace the feminist culture so Condi has a job - a job where she can't even get the other side to stay in the room with her.

While we laugh and make catty remarks, the Iranians are killing our men.

Funny that our new feminist culture has the same goal as Iran. We now have the same moral code as the terrorists.
