They all get USSS protection.

I’m a little surprised at this story. Normally, all the candidates get USSS protection. It’s by law.

Are you sure that’s true for candidates in the primary, 7 months before the first primary?

And how far down does this go? Can I get USSS protection by declaring myself a presidential candidate?

Thanks for the info, I always assumed they did not get that until after the primary.

It’s the nominees, not the candidates who by law are provided SS protectin.

Not this far out. I don't think that kicks in until after the conventions. Or at least until a nominee is known.

I'd hate to think that the GOP would be billing the U.S. Government for SS protection for 10 candidates.

It’s against the law of natural selection. I think it should be a part of the political process that you should be able to survive, and thrive, without artificial life support. Just my 2 cents worth.

It is available, and they will get it only when they ask. This is due to RFK. Personally, I have no problem with it because it occurs on both sides of the aisle. It is a sad state of the world we live in.
