The purpose of the headline and the content of the article was to smear the Mormons.
Well....what will happen is that more people will become curious about the Mormon religion. The next time Mormon missionaries knock on their door, they will let them in just so they can learn more about the religion.
Also...I bet the the career of this journalist will not prosper.
Now you know, that the ONLY reason it states Morman is because one of our own is a Morman.
If this were any other religon, like Muslim or whatever, there would be no mention.
Or how about this headline, “God hating couple do....”
What does their crime have to do with them being mormon?
Can you imagine a story starting with ‘two democratic women’, because they met at a democratic committee meeting?
I expected to find they were punishing kids at the church or something. But the article doesn’t give any reason to associate their crimes with the mormon faith or that they are mormons.
So it seems like it was just a swipe at the religion.
I bet she’s an SUV driver too.
She's just a nutcase. Wherever she picked up her warped ideas on parenting, she sure didn't learn it at church I can assure you. What a Wacko!
Well here is a handy fact sheet for them, with footnotes!:
1. Mormons can become gods and goddesses.
2. Goddesses will spend eternity in full submission to their god-husband.
3. Mormon women will give birth forever and ever to spirit-babies.
4. Mormon men can have multiple wives in heaveneternal polygamy.
5. Heavenly Father is an exalted man who lives with his goddess wife, Heavenly Mother, on a planet near the great star Kolob.
6. American Indians are descendants of the wicked Lamanites, who were Israelites that God cursed with dark skin.
7. God the Father had sex with Mary to conceive Jesus, who is the half brother of Lucifer.
8. All Christian churches are an abomination.
9. Mormons need 4 secret handshakes to get into the Celestial heaven.
10. Joseph Smith revealed that the actual Garden of Eden is in Jackson County, Missouri.

[2] Doctrine and Covenants 84:33-9; Goddesses are always subject to a god. Women are denied the Priesthood (meaning they are denied authoritynot the same as Catholic priesthood). In the LDS universe, theologically described as the real eternal universe, each man who achieves the highest degree of the Celestial Kingdom is worth many times more than each woman, even the women who qualify at that highest Celestial level, because each man who achieves Godhood-level may have numerous God-wives, but each God-wife may have only one husband. This can only mean that each heavenly father is worth many times more than each heavenly mother. And, even if the ratio were strictly one to one, the male God, not the female God, holds the priesthood authority and is the only one of the God parents to whom his earth-mortality children are allowed to pray. So Mormon women can never, NEVER achieve equality with men, no matter how outstanding or righteous the women are. Thats just the way its set up. What IS it with all the Mormon threads on FR lately? If Romney wins the primaries this place will explode.
How would you know that? I don’t know much about the religion except what I learned from here at FREEPERS and bottom line is most think it is a cult. What a Wacko!
And Romney's a Mormon (whispers "Mormon")
Rush listeners will get that one.
Members of the Church found guilty of child abuse are also subject to the laws of God. President Hinckley has said: "Our hearts reach out to the offender, but we cannot tolerate the sin of which he may be guilty. Where there has been offense, there is a penalty." Convicted child abusers are excommunicated, the highest possible discipline our faith can impose. Excommunicated members cannot take part in Church meetings or hold responsibilities of any kind within the congregation.
Because I know some dimwit will say that child abuse is an accepted practice in the LDS Church.
Hmmmm....something I noticed as well.
I am willing to bet that being Mormon had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that these women are crazy and horrible parents. Just like I don’t assume that all evangelical Christian parents are nutcases like the Pearls.
Just like the fact that I am Catholic has nothing to do with the fact that I made my daughter put her bike away after riding it, which apparently has made me the world’s meanest mom. Judging by the way she’s carrying on anyway.....
(sorry about the double hit there...
Is this a typical Mormon belief or just something this family believed in?
Just like Mountain Meadows or polygamy.
