Straight From the Gipper's Pen HarperCollins to Publish Reagan's Personal Diary Of His White House Years

Ronald Reagan kept a diary -- handwritten, blue-inked reflections and observations of nearly every day of his eight years in the White House -- and now it will be published, executives of HarperCollins and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Foundation announced yesterday.

The existence of the five leather-bound volumes embossed with a gold presidential seal was not a secret. Key entries were quoted in the press during the investigation into the Iran-contra arms sale controversy in the mid-1980s: "I agreed to sell TOWs to Iran" -- Jan. 17, 1986. Reagan drew on the diary for his 1990 memoir, "An American Life: The Autobiography," and certain scholars have had access to it over the years.

There is nothing so wrong with this country that another 8 years with RWR as President wouldn’t greatly improve.

Where other diarists prattle on, unsure of what is important, he found it easy to identify the salient point...

That about sums it up.

I can hear the liberal authors out there now, salivating at the idea of taking simple quotes from RR writings and taking them out of context....

Once they found the writings of Regan that became the book,” in his own hand” they have had to eat crow believing he was a tottering old man. Most of them have never had the discipline to read and write as much as he did in his lifetime.

The book to read is Reagan’s autobiography, “An American Life”. Too bad Congressional Republicans haven’t read it, so they could follow his example.

"I agreed to sell TOWs to Iran" -- Jan. 17, 1986

Leave it to the MSM even in a time to honor President Reagan they feel the need to point out the White House's weapons deal to Iran.

Another book, Reagan in His Own Words, showed that RR was on top of his game and had good solid comprehension on both domestic and foreign policy agendas.
