An 18-year-old man was charged with murder Wednesday after being accused of punching a pregnant woman in the stomach after her boyfriend offered the teen $200 to carry out the attack.
The woman, 19 years old and six months pregnant, collapsed in a St. Louis Park apartment after the assault on April 21 and delivered her baby girl the next day. After spending all of her days on life support, the baby, weighing just under 2 pounds, died Tuesday with bleeding on the brain and other health problems, charges against the two men said.
"It is a cold, brutal really heartless crime," said St. Louis Park Chief John Luse. He said the young mother was grief stricken and still trying to comprehend what happened.
"That's why it's so heartbreaking," Luse said. "You can't not care and do this job. But caring is a risk."

Not that I agree with it at all, but mothers seem to have some legal ability to murder their own children. It is a murky area of the law.
Any one else other than the mother, is clearly out of bounds and should be severely punished.
A fist registry is currently being weighed as a way to prevent this sort of tragedy from depriving a licensed abortion provider of work ever again.

In a sane world, the abortion doctors would be off to jail on the same charges as the puncher here.
There is no sense here. Murder charges do not apply to a blob of tissue. Parents do not have the right to murder their children.
The Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade effectively added another partial person class to the constitution. Where blacks were only considered 3/5ths a person before, the unborn are only considered half people now, who may live or die at the whims of their mothers.
Some here may remember a thread I put up in late 2005. A dear friend’s neice was beaten until she was brain dead by her “boyfriend”, in Hawaii. She was 7 months pregnant at the time.
She was kept on life support until her son could be delivered. With no adverse effects.
Baby Josiah turned one this past December. My friend is out of town for a while, hopefully this story will be off the front pages before she returns. This would just break her heart.
If the mother aborted this child she’d be under full protection of the law
