GL was originally an anglo

Um, why would it matter? John kicked butt as GL. Now that wimp Kyle OTOH. And considering the rest of the GLs aren't even human, it matters if our GL is a certain color?

“I’m presuming you saw the movie and are just trying to be humorous.

If you saw the movie and are being completely serious, then I have to ask: Did you just miss some stuff, or are you the superficial type who blocks out everything about a movie but the fight scenes and hot chicks?”

Hang on a second....I’m having a bit of trouble typing, because I’m laughing very hard over those who take a comic book character so seriously....and then asks about my being ‘superficial’...

I can’t even imagine what might happen if I choose to make light of The Hulk, or Batman....lord help me if I mock Green Lantern!....(chuckle)

Its popcorn for the mind, thats all. The fact the article is trying to promote this using religion was a hoot to me.

Whats next? Spiderman 4, Spidey’s take on the Passion of the Christ?

Sheesh, lighten up. Its a movie, based on a CARTOON.

He was good as the doomed music lover who wanted to hear ‘My Dog Trey’ . . .

"I have two guns, one for each of you." Just watched that flick again this weekend. One of the better westerns, IMHO.

You are right. Clean forgot about that. Green Lantern CORP. More than one person. Whoops, my bad.

I assumed (yeah yeah I know what they say about assuming) that there was only one GL and that they changed his skin color for some PC reason. That would be the equivalent of making a black superhero white (hence my mentioning Spawn and Shaft), just as racist and discriminatory.

But my point remains. I don’t like PC and liberal subversion in comics.

They turned Capt. America into an American hating lib then killed him as a final act of insult.

Superman is fighting for “Truth, Justice, and All that stuff”?

And the Punisher attacks President Bush instead of terrorists in Afghanistan.

Reaffirms one of life truisms. Communists have the Sheryl Crow touch (think Midas, except with no gold power and one tissue).

Isn’t the green lantern heavily involved with gay issues? There is even a green lantern gay club. I've never seen that as an issue in any Green Lantern story I've ever read....

...and changes it's name from Venom to CRUSTY! NOOOOOOO!!!!

And if the alien brings out all the worst in a person, well, there's a real treasure trove of material there, eh?

The Green Lantern Corps was formed by a bunch of blue immortals from the planet Oa.

I’m pretty sure the first Green Lanterns were not even Earth Humans.

The first Green Lantern in the comics was actually Alan Scott the Earth 2 Green Lantern.

As stated in my previous post the first GL in the GLC were probably not Earth Humans.

Can't say as I do either.

They turned Capt. America into an American hating lib then killed him as a final act of insult.

I don't see what Cap did as being an 'American hating lib' in all honesty. I see Spiderman as a patsy of the State willing to give up his freedom in return for 'some liberty'. And you know what's said about that. Anyway, Cap's not dead. IIRC, his shield has mysteriously disappeared...

Not anymore. That was during the Kyle Rainer is Green Lantern days. Hal is BACK baby and all of the blatant pro-homo storylines are gone, but this is DC comics and I’m sure that when they get tired of demonizing Christians they’ll return to the glories of gaydom.

But we should note the Gospel of Thomas didn’t make it into the canon.

HMmm...

I wonder why?

NIV Matthew 6:22-23
22. "The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.
23. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

NIV James 4:1
What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you?

Thomas Hayden Church is the most underrated actor in Hollywood after Gary Oldman.

Yep, he's outstanding. Wings was never the same after he left.

I noticed this with Spiderman II.

And there was also the case of Aunt May's prayer in the first movie.

That was a plot for a Star Trek: The Next Generation shows, the one where Tasha Yar was killed.

Actually, the folks at Marvel did come up with it first. The villain Venom (the combination of the goo and Eddie Brock) first appeared in April 1988, the same month that TNG episode ran. However, the goo (called "the symbiote") first appeared in Secret Wars crossover series that ran about 3 years before.

Oh man, I am such a geek.
