'Bob And Tom' Billboard Too Racy For Some
The Indy Channel ^ | 05/02/07

BOISE, Idaho -- The Indianapolis-based "Bob And Tom" radio show is the subject of controversy in Boise, Idaho, where some say a caricature is a bit too revealing.

Billboards promoting the nationally syndicated show, which originates at WFBQ, show likenesses of Bob and Tom strategically placed on a tight T-shirt, covering a woman's chest.

Some parents were upset that their children are seeing the billboard.

"My kids both saw it and my daughter is 7 and she said, 'Mom, that's gross, that's immodest,'" said Kayla Mooso. "I think that's against my parental rights because I can't turn it off like I can when I choose not to buy a magazine or I choose not to go to the back of the video store."

Scott Souhrada, the program director of the Boise station that carries the show, said he think the billboard speaks to the audience he is trying to reach.

"The audience for the Bob and Tom show is predominately men 25-54 and we thought that would appeal to them and attract their attention," Souhrada said.

Management at the station said it is taking public comment into consideration and will decide later this week if the billboards will stay up.

“...my daughter is 7 and she said, ‘Mom, that’s gross, that’s immodest,’”

What seven year old uses “immodest” in polite conversation?

“I must say Mommy, that the harlot’s wanton display of decolletage has left me indignant! I can’t even finish my fruit roll ups!”

Yikes.

She has the body of a 20 year old and the facial expression of a jaded 50 year old.

My 4 yr. old daughter informed me of my "safety violation" for talking on the cell phone and driving.

Where is this "safety violation" stuff coming from?

My wife says it's from some educational TV show they watch while I'm at work.

Sorry. Math error. 65% (at least from below site)

According to 2000 estimates, Idaho has about 311,425 Mormons, 18,745 adherents in the Assemblies of God, and 17,683 United Methodists. There were 130,847 Roman Catholics and an estimated 1,050 Jews.

Mormons in Boise must be from the Harry Reid wing of the religion. Boise is a blue area.

I think you are missing the point. Whether you agree or disagree with this bulletin board you must admit it is gratuitious. Of course people have the right to dress how they will and others have the right to react how they will. You will see similar things at the beach or mall but does that make it appropriate for all circumstances and places? I think that is a fair question. As a parent of 3 teenage daughters and as one who tries very hard to distill Christian morals into my children I teach them that all because there is something worse somewhere else or that most people are doing it, there is still a right and wrong and you should stand by your convictions. If men want to buy magazines to look at then so be it. But why is this woman held up for scorn here when she is practicing the very thing us conservatives argue for all the time and that is the right to speak out and not be a mind-numbed liberal robot?

According to the 2000 census, 1.3 million people lived in ID.

How the heck is 311,000 65% of 1.3M?

Only fat, ugly lesbos would complain about something that is appealing to men. Although they hate men, they try to look, act, and sound like them.

I don't understand that whole bulldyke dynamic. If you're going to go after women instead of men, what is the attraction to the most horrendous masculine, shaved head jumbo ones? Then after selecting the least attractive thing on earth you can possibly find, they replace a certain appendage with plastic anyway. Then their whole life becomes defined by that relationship to teh exclusion of all else.

The closest you have ever been to Idaho is by the potatoes in your local grocery.

The Mormons in Boise are predominately conservative and republican. Being from Boise I can tell you that the Califoria demonrats are pouring in daily and the political scene is changing somewhat. But the natives are staunchly republican.

My three year old used the word “dehydrated” and then proceeded to explain what it meant.

I bet she knows what immodest means. I know my 8 year old does and she uses it.

But it raises the blood pressure of the “lookee”. And then when you get slugged, who knows what will happen to your blood pressure. :)
