Press Releases Contact: Brendan Daly 202-226-7616 For Immediate Release 05/01/2007 Pelosi: ‘This Legislation Respects the Wishes of the American People to End the Iraq War’

Washington, D.C. – In an enrollment ceremony, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid joined in signing the Iraq Supplemental bill to be delivered to the White House today. Below are her opening remarks:

“Good afternoon. Welcome back to the House side, Mr. Leader.

“Mindful of our responsibility to the Constitution and to the American people, I’m pleased to join in signing this Iraq legislation, which is so important to our national security. For the strong commitment to support our troops and to fill our promises to our veterans, this legislation honors the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform with benchmarks that hold the Iraqi government accountable. This legislation respects the wishes of the American people to end the Iraq war.

“I’m pleased to sign this legislation, which passed both Houses of Congress, with bipartisan support. I urge the President to sign the global war on terror supplemental, so that we can focus on fighting terrorism.”

All President Bush has to say when he vetoes this garbage is,”if American’s choose defeat in Iraq then they will elect a Democratic next President and that President won’t even need a bill to retreat”.

ROFL, that’s a good one. Can someone tell me how surrendering to people that want us good and dead is important/improves our national security??

Bi-partisan support???? LOL. Two Reps in the House and two in the Senate. Three times more Dems voted against the bill than Reps for it.

If there’s so much support, Pelosi, why can’t y’all override a veto?

GrannyNanny is so, so stupid. One, it’s NOT the wish of the American people to LOSE this war, the way she thinks it should be lost, and, two, even if we wanted to “end” it, you can’t simply “end” a war without without victory unless you surrender to the enemy. She’s a power-mad nit, and I hope she’s damaging the Democrat Party beyond redemption. Better that than damaging our national security and our national credibility.
