I am going to suggest something that may not agree with you, but, why not read something old by Buchanan, like his autobiography.

It is called "Right from the Beginning" or something like that.

As I recall, it is relatively noncontroversial, and was written before he was commonly perceived (by his detractors) to be a racist.

Buchanan went to the Columbia School of Journalism and had to be pugnacious to assert his points of view.

He stayed that way when he teamed up with RM Nixon to help him make his comeback from 1966 onward.

Having read this book, I do not have the impression that he is a racist.

I do believe that he will make his arguments (many nonconventional) and is not deterred by name-callers.

Obviously, one of the most potent names you can call someone nowadays is 'racist'.

Because Buchanan has his own points of view regarding foreign policy, immigration, etc., he gets called a racist all the time.

Just because someone is pro-American culture and wants to see American interests attended to, first and foremost, by American politicians, does not make him a racist or anti-Semite, in my opinion.

And, I honestly do not think I have ever seen him express racist or anti-Semitic opinions. If he did, he would not be on the mainstream programs as much as he is. And, it would be inconsistent with his Roman Catholicism, in my opinion.

But he definitely is not PC, and does not parrot the PC line, and does not cave when he is called a racist.

Obviously on matters related to immigration he will get the racist catcalls a lot.

Because anyone against open-borders-immigration has GOT to be racist, right?

Pat is disingenuous when it comes to immigration and alot of his populous views. Do you remember his love affair with unions during g 92 campaign. I had a front row seat to the impressions Pat leaves on some minorities in this country. My daughter-in-law a fifth generation college graduate who incidentally paid her own tuition, and has climbed the corporate ladder due to ability and not affirmative action is a conservative. She is for low taxes, against abortion, pro second amendment devout Catholic a free trader and sends her kids to private school. She was apolitical until she married my son but he convinced her that the views she held melded with the Republicans and conservatives more so than anything coming out of the dem party. She saw Buchanan on MSNBC on several occasions and flips the channel now whenever he is on. She says he hates Hispanics and leaves her with a bad taste in her mouth. Her nephew was called a wetback by some little pos in middle school. They are not even from Mexico. She knows and agrees something has to be done about illegals but feels some of the messengers hurt the party and create racism. If Americans of Hispanic decent feel this way in any great numbers I think we as Republicans or conservatives can kiss goodbye our political chances of reversing the damage done by liberals. Words mean something and we need to change the language to affect the outcome we would like to achieve. I hate the pc crap but we need more the language of Jon Kyle and less hysterics from Pat Buchanan. After his rant in his latest column I still believe he is a racist. He is only on the mainstream media because he hates Bush. They started dragging him out on MSNBC right after the 2000 election. The other night he thought Hillary sounded like Reagan. I thinks his time has passed and our political concerns best addressed by other standard bearers.
