Sen. Claire McCaskill, who had been invited to speak at her daughter's Catholic high school commencement, was told last week that she was no longer invited because of church policy rejecting her positions on abortion and embryonic stem cell research.
McCaskill had been chosen to speak at the graduation this month at St. Joseph's Academy in Frontenac.
Sue Brown, a spokeswoman for the Catholic Education Office of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, said the education office had recommended to the president of St. Joseph's Academy that McCaskill not be permitted to speak because McCaskill's positions are contradictory to church teaching.

I like this for the good values it is showing his daughter.
Catholics seem to be growing spines all over the country now.
Excellent.
Good for the school or whoever disinvited her. There will no doubt be a backlash though, and Saint Claire will probably be made to look like a hero in the media and among the intelligentsia for her “brave” stand in going against the church. She will be lauded for her visionary stands on abortion and in favor of saving lives thru embryonic stem cell research, and all that usual nonsense the left peddles.
I guess also the daughter who attends this school is the one Claire would not want sitting next to her idol, President Clinton. She readily admits she thinks he is some kind of sex predator but that’s OK, because he was such a good president! The logic is sickening.
What’s also sickening is that she is in the Senate at all, considering what a crook she is. Jim Talent made the case against her very well during the campaign but the people of MO didn’t care I guess. I wonder how many people who voted for her are the ones who whine about “crooked politicians.” Gee, maybe there would be fewer of them if you Democrats stopped voting for them! Duh.
Could you imagine the wide ranging effect of having Archbishop Burke or Archbishop Chaput replacing Cardinal Egan in New York City?
This past weekend, I heard a talk by a Father Clement Machado. Very powerful speaker. Later, I attended a healing Mass with him presiding. If anyone is interested, they should check google him and check him out. He does not mince words when it comes to the faith.
Three of my girls graduated from St. Joe’s.
I am very gratified by this decision.
God bless ArchBishop Burke!
It doesn’t have to do with sending her kid to the school, but the fact that she will be speaking at the Graduation Ceremony. She is being denied because she has caused public scandal and if she speaks at the ceremony then it be would as if the Church OKs her positions.
They are not popular with other bishops, but the pope could really send a message by putting a hat on Burke.
While the late cardinal of Chicago was running the American Church, the bishops were dependable allies of the Democratic Party. This while giving lip service to pro-life causes. The bishops could not get it through their heads that they had lost their place at the Democrats table after 1972 when the socialists took over the party, but they were willing to lick the fleet of the pols.
Not being popular with the present set of U.S.bishops could be a big plus.
It would be better if we could simply arrange a meeting between Burke and Wuerle. Unfortunately, Bishop Wuerle is an “obstinant” leader.
Attend Chaput’s 6:30 PM Sunday Mass at the Cathedral with accompanying guitars, bongo drum, altar girls and way too many EMHC’s and then see if you have the same opinion. Besides the Archdiocese is too small to merit a Cardinal.
What goes around comes around.
Burke and Chaput are the Only ones that stand up at these Bishop Conferences and tells the Old Guard the TRUTH!
Could you imagine the wide ranging effect of having Archbishop Burke or Archbishop Chaput replacing Cardinal Egan in New York City?
Chaput and his fealty to doctrine is Courageous... Even Rigali lets some of that Crap Fly in Philly!
Rigali was Pope John Paul II translator for Ten Years! and got to Ride Shotgun in the Pope Mobile..
