Nope. I believe that the NJ State Police (under Schwarzkopf the elder) did their best, that whoever killed the young Lindberg did so after panicking that the police were "getting close", and that Hauppman was likely the culprit.
C. Lindberg was a rather odd man. A eugenecist who loved the environment; a hater of war that nevertheless admired the Nazi war machine; a man who loved his family, yet fathered a German girl out of wedlock.

I read the Readers Digest Biography after his death. He spent the last years of his life in Hawaii, a sort of recluse. Oh by the way, I’m going soft on Newt in favor of Fred.

The History Channel has a piece on Lindberg helping out P-38 pilots in the Pacific, showing them how to stretch their fuel without damaging the engines.
