It must be nice for Leslie Bennetts to have the luxury to write a book as unnecessary as "The Feminine Mistake." It's a topic she chose, no doubt, from a list of ideas she nurtured in spare moments between raising her children and writing sycophantic celebrity profiles for Vanity Fair. Was it on the plane trip home from interviewing Jennifer Aniston at her Los Angeles mansion when she realized that full-time moms need jobs to be truly, emotionally fulfilled?

The Feminine Mistake is when I am watching NASCAR and the wife doesn`t bring me another beer when I immediately finish one. Just the other day I had to snap my fingers when I finished a can. Can you imagine? I actually had to spend time to snap my fingers! Before I never had to resort to expending such energy, but it seems women have been getting really spoiled lately. For example I bought her a dress 4 years ago, and can you believe she wants money for another? I`m so sick of this womens lib movement.
Here is a woman that knows how to change! Get a man’s type job, wear mens style clothing, cut hair short like a “Butch”, destroy all men’s clubs, destroy all mens colleges and universities, join with the “queers” to get political power, control the “Democrap Party”. This list can go on and on! Eventually the woman must ask “what am I going to do about these breast? These are symbols of motherhood and family. According to the feminists, they must go!
This looks like another non-book by another non-author. We seem to have been flooded with them over the past 10 or 12 years. Just about anybody who has a newspaper/magazine column or has a radio/TV show can be an author in the new millenium America. Their books get published by houses that used to publish our great authors, and they get published at advances that would stun Faulkner or Fitzgerald. I suppose people buy the danm things, though. What else could keep those publishers from blushing?
I love the comments after the article. Americans profoundly Do Not Understand the purpose of relationships, or even of their own existence. It would be sad...if I could stop laughing. ;)

If you kept her barefoot this would never happen. Once you put shoes on them it’s over. You spoiled her....
Actually, no. According to this article in the NY Times, most of these sorts of books tank big-time: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/25/books/25momm.html
"Recent mommy books that have not lived up to the promise of their publicity include Sylvia Ann Hewletts Creating a Life: Professional Women and the Quest for Children, which sold only 11,000 copies in hardcover and 2,000 in paperback, according to BookScan, despite the books appearance on 60 Minutes, The Oprah Winfrey Show and the covers of Time and New York magazines. My guess is the reason why most of these books get published is that the subject matter suits the prejudices of the editors, who are, by and large, career women who resent motherhood."And last year Caitlin Flanagans To Hell With All That: Loving and Loathing Our Inner Housewife, a collection of essays that said, among other things, that when a woman works, something is lost, generated a media and Internet frenzy, but sold only 9,000 copies in hardcover, according to BookScan.
"What is striking about these limp sales figures is that these books cover a topic that raises fierce passions, as anyone who has spent time on a playground or near an office water cooler knows. But that may get at the heart of why women are not buying books about these subjects..."
Speaking of by and large, you should see the picture of Leslie Bennetts that accompanies the NY Times article...
Tell me about it! Just the other day she wanted soap to do the dishes! Can you imagine? Soap?
Get her a new mop. That’ll keep her happy for a while.
Must be a darn Yankee to be giving his wife shoes.
So funny. It’s obvious you are joking or you’d still be unconscious from being hit repeatedly with a heavy frying pan. ;-)
Dad?
Aha! So that's why I don't like to wear shoes. I'm just staying in my place. lol
A Gypsy staying in a place? How "un-Gypsy"-like!
Forget that! Mops cost money! What I require her to do is rummage through the rag drop offs at the salvation army and make her own, although I must admit I did splurge on a mop handle. I went into the woods and found her a good branch.
No way, if my wife even raises her voice to me she she knows she will have to wait until our dog “Lucky” finishes his meal first before she can even think of looking for scraps from his bowl. Usually if I am in a good mood, she can eat along side him if he allows her. Usually Lucky gets ticked off when another mouth is in his bowl when he is trying to eat, but he knows he will get more food later on if he is hungry unlike my spoiled wife.
