Disarm America? Here's how [liberal wants Nazi type search of every household in the U.S.]
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | April 29, 2007 | Dan Simpson

Posted on 04/29/2007 7:22:34 PM PDT by grundle

When people talk about doing something about guns in America, one of the points that comes to the fore is, "How could America disarm even if it wanted to? There are so many guns out there." Today I want to address the question of "how" -- if we decided to. Since I have little or no power to influence the "if" part of the issue, I will stick with "how."

Now, how would one disarm the American population? First of all, federal or state laws would need to make it a crime punishable by a $1,000 fine and one year in prison per weapon to possess a firearm. The population would then be given three months to turn in their guns, without penalty.

The disarmament process would begin after the initial three-month amnesty. Special squads of police would be formed and trained to carry out the work. Then, on a random basis to permit no advance warning, city blocks and stretches of suburban and rural areas would be cordoned off and searches carried out in every business, dwelling and empty building. Thoroughness would be at the level of the sort of search that is carried out in Crime Scene Investigations. All firearms would be seized. The owners of weapons found in the searches would be prosecuted: $1,000 and one year in prison for each firearm.

Clearly, since such sweeps could not take place all across a city, county, state or the country at the same time, guns would move. But fairly quickly there would begin to be gun-swept, gun-free areas where there should be no firearms. If there were, those carrying them would be subject to quick confiscation and prosecution. On the streets it would be a question of stopping and searching anyone, even Grandma with her walker.

Isn’t it breathtaking how the left, hypersensitive to the “rights” of those sworn to kill us all, have no problem whatever abolishing constitutional amendments, the bill of rights, protections against unwarranted search and seizure and even the right to privacy of “grandma in her walker”, in order to render us utterly defenseless while “bending” us to their will.

Typical liberal bullsh*t. They read 'establish' and turn it into separation. They come up with the right to privacy, and then, extend that to baby killing, but that 2nd Amendment, in plain language, says that every American has the right to bear firearms, well, that just confuses the living daylights out of them.

As for those who would wait until the process go to the point of what the author outlines, I'll be one of the guys fighting it when it is still a constitutional amendment issue. I don't think we've lost 2/3rds of the state legislatures, YET.

Obviously there is no requirement of NOT BEING STUPID for these jobs. What a moron!

I e-mailed him the following:

Dear Mr. Simpson,

I read your fascinating editorial and wonder which other parts of the constitution should be discarded. Lets change one word in two of your sentences to see what happens:

The silencing process would begin after the initial three-month amnesty. Special squads of police would be formed and trained to carry out the work.

Yes, lets all follow your lead and make liberal, moronic, speech, illegal (oops... sorry, you go to jail). So what if it's protected by the Constitution. We're enlightened people with better ideas than those on that silly old parchment, right?

Yes, this is all quite like Hitler...

Nothing new. These same ideas were being floated about in 1968.

Now, let me tell you how it should be done. Give a warning, “Turn your guns by such and such a date or else.”
Then descend on that town with house to house searches. Anyone with a firearm is immediately shot.
Then go to the next town, do the same. By the third town you will find more and more guns piled up for confiscation.

Never discount the influence of a wife on her gun owning husband.

Or the citizens could fire on the “police” doing the searches but then the Government could claim such towns are in insurrection against the Government, then they could bring in the Army to do the dirty work.

New Orleans is a Democrat stronghold. So no surprise there.

Oh no! Boy if I was a career criminal, I would really fear getting fined and going to jail! What a dumbass!

Yeah, let’s just get rid of those pesky 2nd and 4th Amendments while we’re at it.

Yes ... a crazy Nazi like scam this lunatic is talking about, BUT, may I point out to you folks something that is beginning to unfold right now across the country.

If you are a gun owner and regularly go to the range and use a lot of ammo, I am sure you don’t need me to tell you about the outrageous price increases for ammo (approx 300% in the past 2 years), especially surplus .223 and .308 and .50BMG (my favorite). But for you who do not shoot regularly this is a very real problem.

Also, for us who reload a lot; brass, primers, power, and even bullets are increasing in cost at geometric rates! There are “shortages” of many common calibers (e.g. 50BMG primers are almost non existent).

What a gov’t can do is say “yeah, go ahead and keep your guns ... but you can’t buy any more ammo and reloading components”. Over time ammo will be as expensive as cocaine and no one will ever go and shoot what they have, if they have anything at all.

One of the big problems is the UN forcing countries to sign treaties saying they will not sell surplus military ammo to the US or any other country. E.g. South Africa did this recently and I believe Spain and Portugal did also.

They don’t have to take our guns, they just have to buy up all of the US production and/or make it illegal to purchase ammo and components.

The marxists win Congress and this is what we get. Well, it didn’t take long. To hear them talking out there, marxist health care is a fait accompli. Global warming money transfers are a done deal. And now, THIS.

Evidently, this guy thinks he can write such Orwellian, treasonous stuff because he, like most of the left, is now emboldened by that stupid election.

I can think of fifty ways, just off the top of my head, why his scenarios are abjectly ludicrous. I will name just one: the Indian reservations. There is no way on earth for the government to search and seize in those places. Too many layers of overlapping sovereignty. And so, within this gun-free country (assuming the other 49 impossibilities of national confiscation were found wanting), would exist nation after nation of gun-rich Indian tribes, and a black market that would make tax-free cigarettes and gaming-law exceptions seem like penny-ante poker.

But we can't deport illegal aliens?

Even in the advent of an out-and-out Communist takeover of the country and the willing cooperation of the US Army (which would never happen) this would be a total bloodbath and it still wouldn’t work.

Unbelievable!!!

What fantasy universe is this guy inhabiting. There ain’t no way you could get enough cops to volunteer for this kind of duty. They know they are outgunned.

How much of the police forces and military could we count on to help us shoot the ones doing the grabbing?

Which side would the gangs be on; or would they just loot & burn anything & everything?

Would the illegals flee south; or would Mexico send “help” to protect their nationals?

Anybody remember the alleged Chinese weapons warehouses?

Who else would try to join in the fun?

The guy is worse than an idiot.

Let's start a pool. After the 2nd amendment is gutted like this, which do they go after?

I figure the 1st. Free speech for me but not for thee seems to be their cup o tea.

What a total moron.

Obviously the libs want nothing to do with sanctity of the home, personal freedoms, ownership of private property, personal privacy or any of the other cornerstones of the American system of individual freedoms and liberties.

The Federal government can not “bring in the Army” against USA citizens.

An attempt to do so would result in State sponsored civil war declarations, and a military coup against the Federal government.

But anarchists can dream on...

The civil war for this country would start at that point!

The time will have come for revolution, for sure.

And suddenly, due to our lovely capitalist system, there would be walkers available with built in guns. :)
