Captured Qaeda Suspect At Center of CIA Controversies ~
US News and World Report ^ | April 27, 2007 | 4:11 PM ET | The News Desk -- --Kevin Whitelaw

More on the caputre of Abdul al-Hadi al-Iraqi:

The announced transfer of a high-level al Qaeda operative to the U.S. military detention center at Guantanamo Bay from CIA custody was hailed as a significant victory for the United States. But the announcement about Abdul al-Hadi al-Iraqi's capture was also a tacit admission that the CIA has continued to operate its controversial interrogations and secret prisons program. Al-Hadi was arrested late last year, but was only transferred to Pentagon custody in the past week. In the meantime, he had been held--and apparently interrogated--in CIA custody.

Last September, following a Supreme Court ruling that struck down the CIA program, President Bush acknowledged the covert program and transferred the remaining 14 top terrorist suspects to Guantanamo Bay. But he continued to defend the program as a key tool in America's arsenal against al Qaeda. And the CIA clearly now feels it has the legal cover it needs to resume operating its interrogation and detention program.

In an E-mail message to CIA employees hailing the arrest as a "triumph," CIA director Michael Hayden said the agency's interrogation program was vital and legal. "The information it has produced has prevented terrorist attacks and saved innocent lives," he wrote.

At every turn the MSM is trying to hurt our war effort. At every turn they are trying to create defeat out of victories. At every turn they are trying to paint a negative picture no matter the thousands of successes.

They are disgusting.

And the ugliest part is all this reporting (negative / spin) would stop tomorrow if a "D" were in office. It is simple as that.

The RNC must get a fully resourced WOT/Iraq supporting 527 up and running. It is shameful that this isn't already in place. Press the DEMs on our successes, press them on WHY we must stay in this fight.

Press them with a creative, truthful and systematic 527 run program....and you will see their rhetoric change drastically as the American public is re-energized to stay in this fight....

Fascinating Analysis of Leftist Goals, August 13, 2006

Reviewer: N. Sincerity - See all my reviews

A former 1960s radical, Horowitz is well-acquainted with the Leftist mindset. In this book, he strives to explain the modern alliance between left wing progressivists and radical Islamofascists. He argues that this alliance is based on a common desire to destroy Western capitalism. Leftist sympathy with Islamofascist ideas makes no sense from an intellectual point of view, given that countries ruled by radical Islamists are among the most racist, sexist, theocratic states in the world today. However, Leftists have recognized that they can benefit politically from destructive terrorist attacks on the Western world. A West under attack can be made to turn on its leaders in fear and desperation (as they did in Spain after the Madrid train bombings). Only once people reject current government structures can the Left execute its anti-capitalist revolution and build a new reality that mirrors the Leftist view of utopia.

The complete and utter idealogical hypocrisy of the Islamofascist-Leftist alliance is distressing, but as Horowitz reminds us,

Leftists radicals truly believe the ends justify the means.

LOL. “Supreme Court? We don’t need no stinkin’ Supreme Court.” They probably tortured him off-shore, then “held” him in Gitmo.

The only thing I disagree with you about is that they would stop if there was a “D” in office. The lefties will not stop until we LOSE THE WAR, regardless of who is in office, and that was made clear in the LBJ administration. They supported Clinton only because he never put ground troops anywhere that we could actually help protect the U.S.

I've read parts (when I've had the time) of Unholy Alliance. It without a doubt tells it like it is.

Books won't bring the American publics attention back however. That is going to take a creative, energetic, fully funded WOT supporting 527 program.

The powers that be should have had one of these up and running years ago. Regardless there needs to be one set up and running stat. An effective and informative bi-weekly 527 ad would re-energize the majority of the public.

Another activity from the Leftists:

Watchdog Groups Raise Red Flags Over Special Counsel Probe
April 27, 2007 | 11:21 AM ET

**********************************EXCERPT********************************

The Project on Government Oversight is offering harsh criticism of U.S. Special Counsel Scott Bloch and his recently announced probe into the political activities of key White House officials, most notably Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove.

The group describes the investigation as "off to a bumpy start" and something that "looks like it will be toothless" in a release jointly issued with Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility.

Among their key concerns is Bloch's taking on the investigation while a parallel probe into his own activities reaches its late stages. In a letter to White House Counsel Fred Fielding, Debra Katz, an attorney for the two groups, said the investigation against Bloch "compromises his own impartiality" in his investigation of White House officials.

"The impending charges against Mr. Bloch supply him with an incentive to whitewash violations of the law in hopes of currying favor," Katz writes. "On the other hand, were he to make findings of violations, his findings could be viewed as an act of retribution and/or coercion to prevent the president from taking appropriate action against him, which he would surely portray as retaliation."

The groups also raise questions about the legal basis for Bloch's requesting E-mails that White House staffers sent using Republican National Committee accounts. POGO and PEER were among the groups that helped prompt an investigation into Bloch in the first place by issuing complaints of misconduct.

You may be right - But from press I've seen / delt with outside of CONUS (but still U.S. reporters) they are a different breed even then those from the 60s/70s. The MSM today is about promoting Democrats (regardless of anything bigger than that....as there is nothing bigger than that to them).

If a D is elected in 08 (which I don't believe will happen) but if there is.....progress in Iraq will be talked about via the MSM within months (if not days). They will seek out and report positive story after positive story. They will act as if the clouds had all parted and the sun was shining through.....simply because of the clear leadership shown by the new POTUS (D).

But perhaps you are right - The editors at the top would still seek America's defeat even at the expense of a "D" in office. My gut tells me their "D" reporters wouldn't allow it though....without their own revolt of sorts.

Just look at the economy today. It is better today on a number of levels (or equal to) then what we had in the 90s. Yet at every turn the MSM run down todays economy while they were propping up an economy in recession in 2000.

Quite right. The alleged adversarial role of the press only applies to those not in the Dhimmcratic party. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the roles played by the likes of Stephanopoulos, Matthews, etc etc...
